am i the only one that seems to see Romans 11:29 pop up everywhere?

what do you think of the verse?

Praise the Lord that the Jews have not been rejected and also everyone who is chosen of God (even among the Gentiles) will never be rejected.

Romans 11:28-29
"As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance."

I would highly recommend Art Katz's exposition of Romans 11 (parts 1 & 2) available on this site. It is the best thing I have heard on the matter.

Presently the unbelieving Jews are enemies for our sakes. Their opposition to the gospel acts as a means by which God will refine the Church so that He might present to Himself a mature Church that embodies the fullness of Christ. It is "for our sake" they are our enemies.

In regard to divine calling, the Jews are still God's uniquely chosen nation from all the nations in this earth. And God is still going to bring about the fulfillment of His plan for them. For God is the faithful God. And though up to the present time they have abandoned their purpose and calling in God, that is, to be a blessing to all nations, to be a holy people, to be a royal priesthood, God hasn't forgotten the calling He has for them, and the destiny He has planned for them.

I really appreciate that explaination KingJimmy...it brings such hope for my dear Jewish friends that I love sooo much and pray for all the time.
