'Not called!' did you say?
by William Booth

'Not called!' did you say?
'Not heard the call,' I think you should say.

Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you
go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin.

Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity,
and listen to its pitiful wail for help.

Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you
to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters
not to come there.

Then look Christ in the face - whose mercy you have professed
to obey - and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and
body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.

This reminds me of Keith Green's song Asleep in the Light

The first four stanzas are:

Do you see, do you see
All the people sinking down
Don’t you care, don’t you care
Are you gonna let them drown

How can you be do numb
Not to care if they come
You close your eyes
And pretend the job’s done

Oh bless me Lord, bless me Lord
You know it’s all I ever hear
No one aches, no one hurts
No one even sheds one tear

But he cries, he weeps, he bleeds
And he cares for you needs
And you just lay back
And keep soaking it in
Oh can’t you see it’s such a sin
