Filled with the holy spirit

P
polo247uk May 27, 2007

when I called to the lord to forgive me and asked for the blood of Jesus to wash my sin's away and then was I baptized with water did not the Holy spirit come into me and be with me and lead me and help me and show me the will of the father.
So if that is so why then do some still say I need to be filled with the Holy spirit, As if it is diffent from that which is in me a filling in which controls me as to make me jump and cry out if you will. Am I missing this spirit. When some say you have not been filled yet. I say but I have, I have seen the work of the holy spirit in my life to Clean me to show me that which is right and turn from that which is wrong. Without that Holy spirit in me I would still be in my Sin's but the Holy Spirit in me shows me the will of the father.
I hope I have made the above clear. I would like to know if there is a diffents between the two.
God Bless you all in these times

I would like to know if there is a diffents between the two.

There is no difference between the two.

When Peter and the others went into the upper room, were they saved? Yes, they were but yet when they came down they were endued with power from on high.

Do you have to speak in tongues to be "filled" with the Spirit? No, you do not. The devil has put this stumbling block before the church and kept many people from seeking more from the Holy Spirit.

Gerhard Du Toit I believe (from what I've heard) believes that there is a stronger experience to fill you with power, power to overcome. Gerhard also said about receiving the Holy Spirit, "you can't have power without purity." I am charismatic and I do pray in tongues and I would encourage you that way!! {edit}I can only speak of the things the Lord has done for me. {/edit} I know that there is more if you want it!! The Bible says that "the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance." So that we know that God is giving gifts today!!

I have been guilty of this and I hope and pray I never am guilty again BUT!! (There is more if you want it.) Don't let anyone tell you what that "more" is... whatever you receive will be from the God of heaven and earth just for you. Period, no ifs ands or buts!!

If YOU spend time on your knees and with the Word before you and ask God for yourself and be open, He will not fail to show you what He has for YOU!

God bless you in your walk with Him,
Lisa

It is true that you always have the Holy Spirit with you after salvation, and that He does a continual work in you.
Ten passages in Acts mention being filled in the Holy Spirit, and Luke mentions it three times. There is more if you look for Spirit of God. It seems to always occur either at believing the gospel or preaching the gospel.
The bible says "the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit."
I think when people say "filled with the Holy Spirit" they mean that someone has really gotten themselves out of the way, so that God can do everything and anything He wants. In that way we really catch a glimpse of the Holy Spirit in them.
I don't know, I guess I never really thought about it... :-?

If you really repented and believed the Jesus as Lord and Savior that moment the Holy Spirit regenerated your heart and made you a new creature. You received the Holy Spirit after you believed but being filled with the Holy Spirit is something else, it can happend after convertion but doest happend automatically.

When we believe in Jesus rivers of living waters should flow out of our bellies (the Holy Spirit) but thess experiences are very rare today, few people have an authentic infilling of the Spirit.

Personally i've fallen from the first love but i'm fed up with the moral state of my heart and i pray God humble me to the dust, that his Spirit help me to confess my sins and lead me to deep repentace and heartfelt brokeness and increase by faith and give me a spirit of prayer and then for sure i'll be filled with the Holy Ghost and rivers of living waters shall flow out of my belly. God is not a liar his promises are true for us today the reason we are not filled is we dont believe him enough we dont surrender enough deny ourself enough yield enough.

We are happy someday we will go to heaven because we are regenerated born again christians and we know God gave us eternal life the moment we believed but unfortunatly because we dont yeild to the Holy Spirit our lives but to self, because we dont live as overcommers but with the loser mentality we come soon or late to a spiritual and moral state of spirit and heart where we grive and quench te fire of the Holy Ghost and become lukewarm or spiritually "dead". I am myself one of these persons i'm talking about at least about my experiences i dont want to deceive myself or be deceived about my spiritual condition as many sadly do.

May the Lord have mercy with me and many of my brothers and sisters who are is such a miserable state of heart. My heart desire is that we will exhort, encourage and admonish one another on SI to seek the Lord will all of our hearts and may we be vessels of mercy clean and pure that the Lord may use for his glory.

Dont forget that we are brothers and sister in the Lord and members of the body of Christ and that Christ is commming for a spotless bride. Let our oil lamps burn with the fire of the Holy Ghost again, let us not be like the 5 foolish virgins.

Comme Lord Jesus and light us again with thy Spirit, open the ears of our hearts and let us hear your sweet and gentle voice whispering to us the love of the Father, fill us with your presence for your glory.

I understand the 1st part of what you said and I have the Holy Spirit leading me and showing me the will of the father and I have the power that was said I should have to tell others about Jesus and again the Holy Spirit will work on that person if they have seen the light and belive on Christ.
The point I do not see is the being filled with the Holy Spirit. I am so how can I be again ? People point to acts and the coming of the holy spirit BUT when the holy spirit come down it can't keep coming down can it ? It has come and now fills them and leads them that call on Jesus.

He came to earth to stay but that doesn't mean everyone who is saved is full of the Holy Ghost. If the account of pentecost in the book of Acts were the only account of the Holy Spirit coming on a person or people then I would most heartily agree with the idea that He came once and for all and is now here on all true believers like He was in Acts, but I've studied, and studied, and studied the lives of men who have staggered the world through their christian lives and one thing is ALWAYS consistant, and that is that there came a point in time where God baptized them with the Holy Ghost and power. In order for God to make someone a truly effective witness he has to baptize them with the Holy Ghost. D.L. Moody's story was something like this: before he had his experience that he called a personal pentecost, he would preach a sermon and maybe upto a dozen people would get saved. After that experience he would preach the same message and sometimes upto 400(!!!) would get saved. The power of God would so descend on the meeting that the people would be weeping uncontrollably under conviction.
A small list of others whose stories are almost identical, John Wesley, Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, Charles Finney, Duncan Campbell, Girolamo Savonarola, the Moravian movement started with a whole church being filled with the Holy Spirit during a communion service, Keith Daniel, etc, etc.
I do need to say however that we are not to seek an experience, but rather we are to seek God Himself and ask Him to do the same work in out lives that He did in the lives of the disciples back in Acts, and in the lives of all those men that I mentioned above. Don't just seek an experience for the sake of an experience. I'd say way more 'cause there's way more to this whole subject but this post would be a mile long.
God bless you as you seek God and pray for me as I do the same!
Jeff
