Dear Family:
I want some imput on this statement, I want to know what you all think, especially to know if it's biblical. The writer who was writing this wrote down what they felt the LORD was speaking to them. Here it is:
I want your Positives and Negatives."I am looking for overcomers, so that I may overcome thru them"

I'm not sure if this is a positive or a negative.
Revelation 12:11
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
But it's worth a mention. :-D
Could the author of the statement "I am looking for overcomers so I can overcome through them," mean he is looking for someone walking in the light, has overcome great obstacles and sin and is undeniably in Jesus Christ, a certain overcomer--to guide, mentor, pastor the author as he himself seeks to overcome?
We know we overcome only through Jesus Christ.
If the author is, as you write, saying that the Lord Himself said HE (the Lord) was going to overcome through this person, it makes no sense unless the Lord was saying HE (the Lord) was going to work through the author (God using the surrendered vessel) to overcome the enemy.
It would be crucial to know which the person meant in order to answer you Compliments.

Whom does the "I" represent? Is it the Lord or the man speaking?
Also, maybe you can tell us more about why you are bringing this question up. The Word tells us to test all things. For myself, I know that whenever I become too intellectual and try to interpret everything, even in light of the Scriptues, I am in danger of forsaking the counsel of the Holy Spirit, who is the Bringer of Truth. In other words, even though I don't understand the particular statement, I know that abiding in Christ--being grounded in the truth--is the only way to successfully discern it. Art Katz writes about how some things a person says can be scripturally sound and true, yet spiritually wrong. May we be able through the Spirit to judge all things!
