Re: the days of famine, and why we need to be made ready

Of course, it was originally for Israel and Damascus, but is also relevant to the Church in these days, and the doctrine of the faithful remnant.[/color]

Isaiah 17

“Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
And it will be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
They will be for flocks
Which lie down, and cno one will make them afraid.
3 dThe fortress also will cease from Ephraim,
The kingdom from Damascus,
And the remnant of Syria;
They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
4 “In that day it shall come to pass
[u]That the glory of Jacob will wane,
And the fatness of his flesh grow lean[/u].
5 It shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain,
And reaps the heads with his arm;
It shall be as he who gathers heads of grain
In the Valley of Rephaim. 6 [u]Yet gleaning grapes will be left in it,[/u]
Like the shaking of an olive tree,
Two or three olives at the top of the uppermost bough,
Four or five in its most fruitful branches,”

7 In that day a man will look to his Maker,
And his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel.

He will not respect what his fingers have made,
Nor the wooden images nor the incense altars.

And an uppermost branch,
Which they left because of the children of Israel;

And have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold,
Therefore you will plant pleasant plants
And set out foreign seedlings;
11 In the day you will make your plant to grow,
And in the morning you will make your seed to flourish;

In the day of grief and desperate sorrow.[/u]
12 Woe to the multitude of many people
Who make a noise like the roar of the seas,
And to the rushing of nations
That make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

[color=000099] Damascus = “silent is the sackcloth weaver”.

Aroer = “ruins”

Ephraim = “double ash-heap: I shall be doubly fruitful”.

I found it very significant that the root of "Ephraim" can mean both fruitful and ash heap.

To bring (as usual) a bit of Biology to this, there are some plants in areas where "bush fires" are common, that cannot germinate without ash form a recent fire.

Malachi: "He shall purify the sons of Levi..."

Dear Jeannette,
We only began to hear about Damascas last year on the news. Even [u]our[/u] Secretary of Defense slipped in there last year. She was popping around with a [u]UN resolution[/u] that she read from [u]Jerusalem[/u] after going to [u]Rome[/u] first.

Damascus has never been a total ruinuous heap, yet.
Israel's eyes are back on Syria. The BBC is good for blurbing out focal points. We just need to connect the dots first and those focal points will jump out from off of the News.

In order to connect 'all' the underlined dots, one must understand the plan and implications of proclaiming - "Jerusalem The International City" and who's for or against it, etc.. I'll leave that up to you to paste that into google sometime.

Anyhow, Is. 17 just precedes or goes hand-in-hand with Ezek. 38.

Yes, I believe we are on the cusp. That's why I wanted to wait to reply. But now that I know that others are feeling 'something' too, as of today's other postings around the board, I felt it was time to bump!

This prophecy in Is and Eze 38 is not "the Day" spoken of in 1Corth.. "That" Day you've posted is the Day of His Return.

These wars we're on the heels of, will usher in the psuedo-savior.

Only research connects the dots here, again.

Sorry about your time restraints, cuz you have it all over me on presenting issues ... and age hasn't a thing to do with it. It's brain cells or in my case, however few are left after brain eating diseases take over and 'other things'.
