Flowers for Ruth Graham

sermonindex Jun 15, 2007

Ruth Graham went to be with the Lord yesterday. What a glorious and sad thing. We all know the love affair between her and her husband Billy was one that lasted a lifetime.

Our community here in Western NC will miss her.

Later today I am taking two bouquets of flowers over to the "The Cove" (the Billy Graham training center), which is a few miles from their home.

One is from me and my family... the other will be from all of you... the Sermon Index forum. It will say that on the card, along with the website address.

I hope I'm not being presumptous in doing that. I just think that if y'all lived here you'd take flowers... so since I am here, I'll represent y'all.

Is that ok?

I had to meet with someone over lunch, so my wife ran the flowers over to "The Cove" for me. I forgot to ask her to get a picture I could share with y'all. Sorry!!

She said it's wall-to-wall flowers over there. Said it was joyous and beautiful... just like Ruth was in life. Brought tears to my wife's eyes telling me about it. (tears of happiness)

Ruth is seeing stuff today that none of us can even imagine! How glorious!

Thought y'all would want to know. :-)

Thank you and your wife for such a thoughtful blessing. It was a beautiful thought from you two. Amen.

To your quote above, you can say that again and again and again.

This is what I thought when Dad died two months ago. For some reason it took the edge off my grief to see him go on. In fact, I was glad he could....and never mind me missing him: I do but knew it was coming sometime, just had no idea when - he was not ill, just died suddenly.

Thanks for your thoughfulness in sending the flowers.

Thank you Krispy for taking flowers from SI. Ruth Graham was a precious child of God.

Her daughter Ann, in one of her books, I believe it was "Just Give me Jesus", told a beautiful childhood memory of her mother. Ann said that her bedroom window as a child was situated so that she could see her mother's bedroom window and Ann said that any time after 4 a.m. she knew she could look across the courtyard and see her mother's light on in her room. She said she also knew that if she walked over there she would see her mother with the Word open before her in meditation and prayer.

A wonderful testament of one Godly woman's life.
