Well something that might be signfigant from this is that since his life he has been a bridge to the generations past to this generation. We still don't have revival and are farther dislocated from a genuine move of God. In ravenhill's day he would say there are less then 10 people that have ever seen a holy ghost revival, now I would say there are none. God have mercy on us. Oh Lord send a time of refreshing to your Church in Jesus Name.
Brother, when I first came to the Lord in the 70's, the first books and ministries I was given were, Wilkerson, Ravenhill and Keith Green.
Then thankfully, Wilkerson got into prophecy with "Blow the Trumpet in Zion" but before that, with The Vision.
Just before Keith Green died, he also was starting to look 'forward'.
I do believe, depending on one's view on these things, that Joel answers the "when" question, and that more than likely, all three of these men would take Joel 2 seriously, even now.
A good article to dispel dispair would be found here on a site that a brother gave on one of the threads.
It is on Joel 2 and this below is just a short excerpt from the article found at http://endtimepilgrim.org/end-timerev.htm
""We have also been given a charge in the Great Commission. This message has been either taken out or mixed in with a lot of other dubious messages. What we now see being served up to us is far less than our 'high calling in Christ'. Now, much of what is left of the charismatic revival has been repackaged for sale to the masses in the religious markets of mammon. Holiness and has gone out the window. And faithfulness to the Holy Scriptures is now considered dispensable in lieu of the 'prophetic revelations' coming to us through our special new "five fold" anointed church leaders. The Holy Spirit, the paraclete whom Jesus said would be sent to come alongside us, (John 15:26), has been grieved. The One who is sent as our Comforter and Guide, even the Spirit of Truth, is not as evident in our charismatic services as He once was. (1Cor.14:26)
This is truly unfortunate. Many of us were mightily blessed in the early years of the charismatic renewal. During those early years the Holy Spirit flowed in a much greater purity than we see today. Both of these once great Holy Spirit revivals are now either spent or winding down. So where is the promise of the final epic blockbuster Holy Spirit outpouring? And why aren't we seeing it now?
It is here we have some good news. There is a Holy Spirit Revival going on right now in places abroad. We are seeing Him move mightily in the persecuted Church. But what about us back here in the western nations? Why do missionaries say that the Holy Spirit, so powerful upon them as they ministered overseas, seems not to be around when their plane lands in America, Great Britain, Australia, etc.? What is going on?
There will, according to Joel, indeed be a massive outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the last days. - Joel 2:28-32 It will involve the whole world. This must mean that our days of compromised Christianity will end at some point. The pampered and narcissistic Church in the west will undergo a radical change of heart, a change for the better. How will this happen?
Here is the 'rest of the story' we are not being told. We do indeed have a wonderful hope of a genuine latter day revival. It has been promised and it will surely come. But this blockbuster of a revival will come to us right at the grand finale of this age. The Holy Spirit will pour out in the midst of those very end-time events we were told are going to be all bad. In fact, the End-Time Revival will build up right in the latter half of those final 7 years of this age. Oh yes. This will be powering up during the grand finale of this age, the Great Tribulation period.
Dear saints, for us this is definitely a 'hard saying'. For many of us in the west it is a real shock because we have not been told about this before. But we must face the Holy Scriptures here. We must study what the scriptures are telling us in true and faithful Berean style. We must believe what the Holy Spirit is telling us.
If Joel saw the peak of the Holy Spirit outpouring at the sixth seal in the days of a darkened sun and a bloody moon then we can put the jigsaw puzzle pieces together and see the picture here. The outpouring Joel saw will come to its climax or its peak in the last few days of this present age. This will be just before the return of Messiah.
Jesus Himself told us when those cosmic signs of a darkened sun and a bloody moon would be seen. Jesus told us specifically and clearly that it would be "after the tribulation of those days that the sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood." It would be then that the sign of the Son of Man would be seen in the heavens. - Mat.24:29-31 These then are the late 6th seal cosmic signs seen at the end of this age. It is in this late time period that Joel saw the Holy Spirit outpouring come to its very peak. This is a confirmed and unequivocal fact of Holy Scripture.
If we can believe what our Bible is telling us then the really big moves of the Holy Spirit are yet future. We can take some real encouragement here. If the revivals we have today are disappointing us then all this means is that something much bigger than we have ever seen is still up ahead. This great Latter Rain revival may be powering up sooner than we think. So let us be comforted and encouraged in this.""[end excerpt]
In the meantime, reading 2Peter3 ~ the whold Chapter ~ Peter exhorts us 'how' to prepare now for those days. That is called Personal Revival ... which is a must if we call ourselves by His Name.
Bless you.
When was the last revival? Was it the one which is spoken of in the Revival Hymn? Wasn't that a revival from more then 100 years ago?
Has there not been any real Holy Ghost revival since then anywhere? Would be very sad!

It's such a great loss for the church when prophetic voices like Ravenhill pass away.I was much blessed when i read for first time, " Why revival terries". I think he was the last "primitive methodist".He lived in an age that gave us some rare men of God, like Tozer the evangelical mystic, Martyn Lloyd Jones the "last puritan".
P.S - warrior4jah i think the last western revival was in the Hebrides isles, Scotland between 1949-1952 and Duncan Campbell was the main preacher.
