playback speed

About half of the files I download won't play on my mp3 player. They will play on the pc but the speed is wrong on the player, it drags. If anyone knows how to resolve this or if it has been explained elsewhere could you please direct me there.

I have a program my husband installed called dBpowerAMP that I believe will change the record speed. I just don't know which is the correct one.
Thanks,
Hope

I had this problem a while back, the solution is to re-encode the mp3 file.
If I recall correctly I used the program cdex to convert the mp3 to wave and then set the options in the program to convert it back to mp3 (44kHz 96kbit or so).

The quality won't improve, but atleast your mp3 player will be able to play it at correct speed. I'll try to help you out if your problem is still actual, since I use Linux and probably can't run the program to type a step by step explanaition.

Yes it did. :-D Actually, I didn't even have to convert to a wave first. I just change the speed to 96 and that did it. Thanks again.
