Van on fire - Family OK

R
RobertW Jun 29, 2007

I wanted to put out a praise report. It happens that our van caught on fire under the hood as my wife was almost home last night with 2 of my sons. She called as she was heading down the street that she could smell 'gas'. I ran to the front room and looked out as she was pulling in. there was a trail of fire dropping from the vehicle as she pulled in the drive and jumped out with the kids. They ran across the street as my son inside called 911. I tried to hose it down but it was burning too hot. The fire totally burned out the underhood compartment and the van is a total loss. I wish to thank God for His protection of my family. they could have been burned to death in the fire- but God protected them.

P.S. the fire department came and put out the fire with the big hoses. The houses are close together and nothing else burned. Praise God!

I am thanking God with you. I think we don't know the half of how God keeps and protects us and our families from evil, sickness, and temptation. Praise His name!

In Christ,

Ron

I praise the Lord with you for the protection he showed for your family! Just two days ago my husband's car smashed into another car and he was thrown out of his seat and hit the windsheild with his forehead severly-thanks the Lord nothing happned to him-if it were not for the Lord my story would have been other than this! Praise his name! We sometimes see his protection but million is his protection that we don't see!

Your sis. Mek.

We sometimes see his protection but million is his protection that we don't see!

"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17

And without him, all things fall apart! Even our own bodies would just collapse to dirt if God took His hand off of us! Things like your husband's crash, and the van fire help to remind us that His hand is there.

Praise GOD Robert. How frightening that is at the time though. What caused the fire ?

I'm very sorry your family and you had to go through something that traumatic, but grateful you are here to post this 'Praise GOD' ending to it.

Thankful for Mekdi's husband being alright also.

Would like to know how a van could do such a thing though. Are you O.K. with being covered insurance wise for this ? We'll keep praying something more GOOD comes out of this for you all.

Thank you for telling us about this event.
Bless The LORD for saving all.

Not sure what caused it. May have been a gasoline leak under the hood or something electrical. The wife called me while heading down our street to tell me she smelled gas. I said to pull right in and shut it off. It was dripping flames onto the pavement. She fled across the road with the kids. Let's just say, I'm glad that my dealings with this van are finally over; or close to it. I don't really believe in curses- but this van had problems. ;-)

The van has been a thorn in my side since day one. I feel like it was out of God's will that I bought it. In other words- I jumped the gun and didn't wait on Him. Our old van was stolen so we needed transportation. A gal gave us a little car the weekend after I bought the van. :-( If I had only waited... but it was too late. She planned to give it to us but had not seen us yet.

The van cost a lot more than it was worth. I bought it on payments which I have never done before. The day I bought it it made its entrance by leaking transmission fluid all the way to my house. I suppose it was only fitting to leave a trail of literal fire as it made its exit. A testament to needing to wait on God before making these kinds of decisions.

Thanks to all for their kind words. Thanks God for His protection. It had been terrible if my wife and kids had been burned to death. It was a very real possibility. The fireman had to get into the hood with his AX. The hood had buckled and turned brown (it was white). It would not open. An explosion happened also and shot steam and smoke 20-30 feet into the air. It was an eventful night...

HOLY SMOKES Robert !

Lord, I won't ask what kind of van it was because I have a white one too. Haaa.

Major traumatic night I'd say, but hoping all are taking it as well as you are. Bless you all.
