I would think most people on the sermonindex know HIM and if you do then say amen to the bottom line. Just a little simple message called the gospel.
Have you ever been enrolled in an insurance plan or a plan of some type that required a window of opportunity to be open to enroll. These type windows come only once a year and the window is only open for a short time. Often, when we buy an insurance plan to protect us from rising health cost, and often because of a waiting period for the window to come open to make a change, the insured or a family member will have a sickness or accident before that coverage takes affect.
All of us have a window of opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior without a waiting period. This window of salvation is open now to whosoever will.
Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost.
In the Old Testament and Old Covenant, the High Priest would offer sacrifices for the sins of the people once a year. Under the New Covenant Jesus has offered himself, once and for all, a sacrifice for our sins. He has become our High Priest forever, making intercessions for us to the Father. His word says today is the day of salvation. No other name under heaven by which we can be saved.
If we were to define window, it would be in a sense, a device that lets light in. Listen to what Jesus said.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
The Apostle Paul who persecuted Christians seen that light in Acts 26:15-18
'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' the Lord replied.
16'Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you.
17 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them.
18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'
The Apostle Peter wasn’t in tune with the will of Jesus at times, Peter denied Jesus three times, just before Jesus was crucified, he denied him just as Jesus had said he would. He kept following Jesus and Jesus kept loving him. After his resurrection, Jesus said in Mark 16:6-7
6 "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'"
Jesus told his disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they receive power from on high. After that Peter preached on day of Pentecost.
38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call."
40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
If we are Christians, this is what the Jesus says to us.
Matt 5:14-16
14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
In John 1:3-13
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.
7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.
8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-
13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
John 3:19-21
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
Jesus is also the only door to eternal life in Heaven.
The other choice is eternal life in hell by our own choice of rejecting God's SON, which he will grant our choice, if we don’t accept the gift that Jesus offers.
In Luke 13-22
Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.
23 Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" He said to them,
24 "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.' But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'
26 "Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'
27 "But he will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!'
That window of salvation is open now, but when we draw our last breath or Jesus returns for his bride the Church, which ever occurs first, then that window of salvation is closed to those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
The Apostle John wrote in Revelations the words that Jesus gave him for the seven Churches. In Rev 3:7-13
7 "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars. I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.
10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13 He who has an ear,let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Some may think they have done too many bad things to come to Christ, but this is what Jesus in Mark 2:15-17
16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Jesus said in John 3:17-18
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? If not, will you accept him before the window of opportunity closes. What are your options, in John 10:10-11
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Jesus laid down his life on a cross, after being beaten and mocked. He was without sin. He was God in human flesh, born of a virgin, and died and rose to the right hand of the Father so you and I could have eternal life.
I so glad he called me and saved!
Not by my power or my might but by HIS SPIRIT.
