When we let HIM take the option of lying out it will change our life!

sermonindex Jul 3, 2007

Lying
He is great in power; justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate. Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit.

One of the greatest problems man has is untruthfulness, God calls this problem lying.
When the Bible describes the devil, what characteristics does it give of him. The Father of lies. He lied to EVE. He even tried to tempt the savior lying when he lied to Jesus about worshipping him.
Prov 6:17-19
7 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
(from New International Version)
Prov 21:6
If it is in a business deal it’s ok is a lie.
6 A fortune made by a lying tongue
is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare.
(from New International Version)

1 John 2:21-27

21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
KJV

Is lying a characteristic of a Christian? John 8:44-47
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God." (from New International Version)

Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Rev 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Hi brother, couldn't help but notice that you said the other day that you've only been saved 5 yr.s.
It's great that you have such a hunger for the Word and post as much & often.

My favorite Message on your very urgent message in these last days to the Church is by T.A. Sparks.

It is one that needs to be read regularly to really have it safe guard, along with His Word.

I believe God gave this man this message, just as He may have laid it on your own heart also.

This is the sign of the fallen-away, by the way ... that's why I said "urgent message".

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am living proof God changes lives. If items in my sinful life prior to surrendering to him were named the list would be quiet lengthy. The usual rap sheet. I thank him for the want-to and the can't do-it unless he equips me I pray for more obedience in my life. And ask others for their prayers that I God will use me to stand in the gap in this sinful and adulterous generation. That I will stay weak within myself and dependant upon HIM. Humble so can lift me up, Poor
so he can keep me wealthy. Confessing my helplessness apart from HIM and thanking Him
daily for HIS grace and mercy and that HIS grace and HIS mercy are not intended to be a license for me or anyone to sin.

Thanks GrannieAnnie for the thread. I read it and it was great. His Spirit is the only power that can bring us into absolute truth. Have a great day today. Please keep me in your prayers as I keep you in mine. I have not been a member of SI very long but I have enjoyed every minute of sharing and be shared with. I know I must stay clean in my heart to hear HIS voice and to understand HIS WORD and the world does creep in at times. I pray that when I error he will reveal it to me. Then I can take my heart to 1 JOHN 1:9 and start afresh.

Mutual brother moe_mac. Glad you're here and may all enjoy the mutual good experiences that SI offers to us freely.

I appreciate your prayers moe, more than you know.

This is the place to grow together and I'd say from personal experience, it's only second to my intimate times alone with The Lord and then my Church family.

Yes, a hardy amen to your Scripture verse ... 1 John 1:9, now that is one we'll hold to until He comes and do as you've said about John 10 so we won't need to do the other as much. :-)

Lord bless and with my prayers also.
Thank you.
Annie

Good morning GrannieAnnie.
Amen on John 10. I have in my memory and my heart John 10:10. He did come to give us life and life more abundantly and the devil comes only but to steal. kill and destroy. The more I learn of HIS WORD and HIS LOVE and HIS righteousness the more I need to use 1 John 1:9 and often. Everytime I gets in HIS presence the words of Isaiah come to life. Oh woe is me I am a man of unclean lips. And when he touches our lips and says who will go, then we truly realize HIS holiness and our weakness apart from HIM, then when he ask " who will go" then we can say "send me". I don't believe he will send us until we realize HIS HOLINESS and our weakness apart from HIM.

Hia Moe_Mac,

Two of my favorite Scriptures are ...

Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they 'shall' be filled.

and

Php 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Php 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Php 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Php 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
Php 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

When I first got saved, I found Martin Lloyd-Jones commentary on the Beatitudes and I'd say, if God had not been so gracious as to let me find that precious treasure, I may have been so discouraged and unnecessarily 'self' focused I may have thrown in the towel.

Matt5:6 is a both/and verse that has grounded me in Hope. If I but continue to hunger ~ He will continue to work in me, to conform me, cleanse me and so on and Phil 3 promises the same Hope.

Without that hope I would drown brother, that He hasn't left me and won't leave me the way I am.
His promises to finish the work that He's begun keep me alive I believe. Oh yeah and Also Rom 8:28 is "for" 29.
If I had to go without these, I'd probably be sunk by now, with no hope.

So that HE gets all the Glory because He's Worthy. Glory !

Thank you Moe, God Bless you!
