MUST HEAR: Vintage Art Katz Sermons

Amen.

Might I make another suggestion as well? I just listened to the sermon this morning, and it was by far the most powerful sermon I have ever heard Katz preach (and I've listened to probably about 100). It is quite lengthy (1 1/2 hrs), but the anointing and brokenness by which he speaks is absolutely rivetting. I've never heard him break down and cry so much in a sermon. I can't wait to listen to it again. I cannot recommend this sermon enough:

Jesus was declared "the son of God with power" at His resurrection, although, He was always such by virtue of being the second member of the Trinity. Reflecting upon this, brother Katz calls us as children of God to enter into this same sonship by walking out the resurrection in our own lives. If we would embody the reality of our calling as sons, we would not need frequent trips to the altar week after week. Rather, we would enter into another life altogether.

Hi Brother, it is good to find someone on Sermon Index that is a few years older than me.

I couldn't agree with you more about the Art Katz messages. It had been several years that I have listened to Art Katz, but this brother is going to present the truth in a way that will expose the very motives as to what it means to be minister and a servant of Jesus Christ. I believe that he is spot on concerning the message of discipleship. Most of the modern day church including the Charismatic and Faith movements that I was very much a part of have been a blessing to those that have seen God's purpose in these movements, but the main failure has been that to a large degree they have become blessing and man centered, and have strayed from God's divine purpose for the Church and for man.

I would strongly disagree with this. In many of his sermons and especially in "To the Jew First" Art slams the church for their anti-semitism. There is one big glaring problem in Art Katz's life! He was a Jew who didn't marry a Jew. The Jews today should be 200 million or so if they were six million at the Exodus. The reason they are not numerous and have continually died out is because of what Jews like Art Katz have done. They have refused to marry Jews! And to add insult to injury they point fingers at everyone else! Art Katz needs to examine his own life first before he points fingers at the rest of the world.

I hope the links work, I'm using my phone. For me, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit was magnified and my inner man was tremendously blessed and eternally grateful for, by the following two sermons.(I have listened to other sermons by him and others, but these are truly timely sermons) One of them was a featured sermon long ago, and the other one was when a brother transcribed the sermon, for which I am grateful for.

On another note.

It's irrelevant to who he married. I know Jews who married non-believers. Or believers marrying a jew. I mean, this is totally different, but if you look at Paul Washer and his wife, even after they were married she admitted to being an nonbeliever for awhile. So I think those comments are irrelevant and not needed. Especially, since he has gone home.

Staunch Jews have believed in the Old Testament prophecies about returning to Israel for thousands of years. They have married only Jews and kept their race alive and their hope alive. Their hope, btw, is something that should be the hope of the church as well because it continues into the New Testament.

Now some dude who claims he knows God far more than his fellow Jews comes along and through example and preaching says that Jews can come to know Jesus Christ and don't have to worry anymore about pursuing their God-given dreams. This dude wouldn't go to Israel and take up his cross. He wouldn't marry into his tribe. And, on top of all of that, he yells and screams anti-Semitism to the rest of us. What rubbish!

Joe, keep listening. You will find that he doesn't do any of things you thought you saw. You may discover truths you didn't see before. Art's ultimate heart is for the Jews to return and remain in the Land forever.

Just wanted to agree with Jeremy's advice upon giving Art some more listening.
Art was a secular Jew, highly educated and teaching school until he wondered if there was something more to life when he was about 35 years of age. He took off for Europe with a backpack on his back and an attitude.
This is all recounted in his autobiography ''Ben Israel: Odyssey of a Modern Jew' and you hear his testimony interwoven in many of his sermons over the years. His ministry spanned from the early 70's until he went home to be with the Lord in 2007.
As an unbeliever passing through Denmark, Art got a young Danish girl, Inger, pregnant and after Jesus saved Art, he went back to do the right thing and married her and the rest was history.
He often related his marriage to the oneness in Christ of the rocky relationship between Jew and the Gentile.

God used this flawed and sometimes brash man to speak difficult as well as poignant messages to the body of Christ all over the world. He loved his people the Jews and he loved the Gentiles and he was a believer who lived out the mystery of our oneness in Christ. He was a prophetic man.

He also saw the dangers of Christians headed back under the law as the Messianic movement became another sect. There is a message entitled "Beyond Messianic Judaism" that speaks directly to this movement.

Sherrie recently reposted links to that. Anyway, I love Art and Inger Katz and look forward to meeting them in glory!
