Blood of Jesus for protection

B
brokenvessel Jul 5, 2007

Hi,
I have a question. Many times I hear people pray, plead for the blood of Jesus to cover them for protection. Can you help to show me the bible verses for this. Thank you

sermonindex Jul 5, 2007

Hi,
The Scriptures do not teach this.

Jesus used The Word of GOD against the enemy, as an example onto us.

Here are some very good articles on spiritual warfare that sort of takes some of the sensationalism out of it and gets more Biblical with the topic.

Lord Bless.

Thanks for your reply.
This thing has been bothering me for some time. The intercessory prayer group that I joined would pray for the covering of His blood over us and over the place. It always sort of jarred me out. Have been trying to find scripture on this but the only thing I can think of is maybe they are thinking about the blood of the lamb applied on the door of the children of Israel when the angel brought death to the firstborn of Egypt, but that's a different matter altogether, right?
Thanks for the article. Will certainly read through it.

the blood of Jesus to cover
I just want to say this is a mixture of pictures. Reading Hebrews brings out clearly the external nature of the Old Covenant provision to deal with sin so God could not see it, and it was not forgiven, as compared with the New Covenant, in which sin is both forgiven and removed altogether.

the only thing I can think of is maybe they are thinking about the blood of the lamb applied on the door of the children of Israel when the angel brought death to the firstborn of Egypt, but that's a different matter altogether, right?
In some ways the 'passover' picture is much closer to what Jesus did, than the many deaths of the many sacrifices required by the law later given.

This topic has been discussed in other threads. It's important to understand that the Old Covenant blood was actual blood which had to be shed regularly, whereas Jesus' blood was one offering for all for ever, an eternal sacrifice, which is, through the Spirit, always a lamb if it has just been slain. 1 John 1:7 is where else you find it declared in a relevant way to the individual believer.

There is a huge difference between the 'covering' of the blood without the removal of sin and 'walking in the light' - read John 3:17 - 21 and Hebrews 10:10 onwards.

At the root of these differences is the thesis in Romans, about being planted in His death and made to walk in newness of life (6:4 - 6).

Regarding this sort of praying, I believe it is a mistake to direct the Christian's thoughts towards the enemy (whatever it is at the time) but it can encourage one's own heart to be reminded or to remember the cataclysmic power of Christ's sacrifice, and that He really did destroy the devil who had held people in bondage through fear of death, and, He abolished death.

Hi Dorcas,

Thank you for the feedback. The blood that was shed for me, how it cleanses me. But I have no understanding of how the blood covers me and protect me from the enemy. I have another question, there's a book called "Blessing your Spirit" ( can't remember the author's name} During intercessory prayer, this type of prayer where you speak to the spirit of a person who is not present physically to bless him or tell him or align him
to God's will and purposes in his life. Is this according to scripture? Sorry if my sentences are not very clear. I'm new at this. By the way I'm from Malaysia. My name is Sing Ming

sermonindex Jul 5, 2007

Hi Sing Ming, what a beautiful name. Welcome all the way from Malaysia. Praise GOD!

You seem to have discernment, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing the fault in these practices or even be questioning them.

Praying or focusing "at" anyone - whether it be at their spirit, soul, mind or body is wrong.

We're to pray to The Father in Heaven only and through The Son's authority that's He's given us.

What this practice you've encountered is doing is a form of witchcraft and the other person can be oppressed by such spiritual misuse of "prayer".

We are dealing in the spiritual realm, but The Lord gave clear and simple instruction of 'how' to pray and to 'Whom'.

Some people pray to the GOD in their room or inside them, but our prayers must always be directed to the Father who is in 'Heaven'.

Because we are dealing in the spiritual realm, we must be very careful to only stay with Bible, so as not to have our own spirits meshed with other spirits and not to harm others with wrong teaching on how to operate "in the Spirit".

When I was first saved, the Lord led me to read many of Watchman Nee books for this very reason.
I was prone to the 'spiritual' experiences and in a pentacostal church, 'anything' can happen.
I thank God He led me that way for protection in this area of 'spiritual reality' and anything connected to operating in the spirit realm.

No Author is 100% on 'every' subject, but every Author on this Website is safe reading and has their own 'specialty'.

I can recommend Nee books and not fear. Any little thing that he may say on the "raptures" (which most of us don't agree with anyway) is negligible compared to all the good he's brought to spiritual Sanity.

Don't confuse him with Witness Lee or any "groups" out there that have made a 'following' out of his name or that of Lee's.
That is going way too far with what Nee would even want. They go too far out there with their beliefs in these 'fellowships' that are based on men's names.

You are safe to read anything from this site and the site I gave you above.
You can see that site covers pretty much everything out there that is affecting the Church.

I know another author on this site we're on besides Nee, named Jesse Penn-Lewis and the book "The War on the Saints" is also here to read besides other articles by that author.

So between just these two sites, you will learn much.

That is why I don't read books by Authors who are 'recent' and prefer my Authors to either be already in Heaven or in the Discernment Ministries. Those are the ones who watch for the strange things coming into the Church that deceive us. "If" that were possible.

Bless you Sing Ming. You have made a wonderful discovery of things and I will be praying for you to continue to be "led into all truth" as He has promised. Humility is what opens the connection between ourselves and His Spirit of Truth. You have that and that is why He is giving you that red-flag in your spirit over these things.
Praise His Holy Name.

Nice to have met you and I hope you'll enjoy all the Messages by different Authors from this Site.

LORD Bless.

Hi Annie,
It was by God's grace that I came across SI and since that day I have been so blessed. I have learned so much, so much and can only say thank you to Greg Gordon and all you saints here.

I post these questions because it has been disturbing me for quite a while and from this forum, I hope to glean from you all. I have read some of Watchman Nee's articles here. Thank you for pointing out some things which are so helpful to me.

I covet your prayers. I have spent the whole afternoon reading most of the artcles in the website you gave earlier.

What shall I do now? Really have to pray for the Spirit to lead me in truth and grace if I want to bring this up to the group leader or do I come out from the prayer group?

There was one occasion when a few of them lay their hands on me and prayed over me, "... more, more, more, give her more". I was taken aback and immediately prayed in my Spirit, "Lord, I do not want anything except to know you more"

This was because, all of them there will usually have visions from the Lord during the prayer meeting except me. The Lord usually impressed His words in my heart and not vision. In this past 5 yrs I have had two visions only but they're so profound to me. Are having visions from the Lord so "easy to come by"? Sorry, I do not really know how to word it properly... what I'm trying to say is like vision from the Lord is a common occurence...oops that doesn't sound too right either. I hope you get what I mean.

Please continue to pray for me. Thank you.

God bless.

Dear SingMing,

You are very correct in all that you say.

I don't think you will be able to change the group leaders mind or the group's mind.

I would just back away quietly and tell them that the Lord has impressed upon you to pray in your closet. If they come against you for it ... just say nothing. I'm only saying this as my feelings from having been in so many of these type situations. There is a power there, and it's not from GOD, so you're first move is to protect yourself from anything false --- whether it be a false teaching or "another spirit", as Apostle Paul said.

Other than that, you are in Safe Keeping with just the LORD alone and where and what He'll lead to read.

Trust His leading with all of your heart - as you have been - but we all need to trust all the more - especially in these days, when spiritual counterfeits are rampant. Extremely so.

Pray one for another and thank you for your prayers for us.

Bless you Sing Ming.
His great love to you.

sermonindex Jul 5, 2007

Hi Sing Ming

What does your name mean?

Just to add a little to what others have said:

At the Passover, the blood protected the people from the WRATH OF GOD, not from Satan.

The ony way I can think of that the blood of Jesus might protect us from Satan is shown in Zechariah 3. The priest was standing in thee Lord's presence, but in filthy clothes. This gave Satan, who was also present in the vision, a reason to accuse him. How could anyone come before a great King dressed like that? How could God accept him when his sins were so horrible?

So if we let the blood of Jesus cleanse us from sin, Satan has no way to accuse us any more.

There's also Revelation 12:10 following, (don't think anyone has mentioned it yet - I've rather skimmed this thread)

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The word for accuse is apparently to accuse in a court of law, so again it is the same thought as being protected from the wrath of God through the blood of Jesus. Satan has no more legal grounds to accuse us to God. the beginning of the book of Job has the same thought, Satan is accusing Job before God, that he's only loyal because God has protected and made him prosper - "Does Job fear God for naught...?"

Blessings

Jeannette

Hi Sing Ming my name is Eddie and I pray you will find the light that you seek and that our posts will help.

Your Heavenly Father loves you and His life is bound up in yours by His love for you. God gave you the cross as an alter and a sacrifice to make an atonement for your soul, His Son Jesus was Shiloh and unto Him God’s people gather and into His Life where we find rest( Sabbath). Our life is in Christ and in His atonement. When Shiloh came the scepter departed from Judah and The risen Glorified Son of God is the law giver and unto him all the people gather and our life is bound up in His life by bonds of love and our eternal life is in His blood (or His life.) To the wicked our Christ is a stumbling block because of their lack of faith that Jesus was the Son of God who died in our place that we might live by taking part in His death burial and resurrection He became the author and finisher of our faith. The Gospel is that Christ our atonement was The Son of God and our Rock is the law of faith that our Church or His Body is built upon. Jesus our Christ was God’s Son and God was in His Son on the cross reconciling us by the death of His Son, who gave His life that we might live, Jesus was the Son of God and as the Risen Glorified Son of God He is risen and our lives or bound in His by His love for us displayed on an old rugged cross. ..

Leviticus 17
11. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Genesis 49
10. The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Ezekiel 3
19. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
20. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
21. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.
22. And the hand of the Lord was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.
23. Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the Lord stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.
24. Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.
25. But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:
26. And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.
27. But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

Romans 3
23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30. Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

This is a typical example where a precious truth in the bible degrades into a carelessly spoken phrase.

Our sins are forgiven through the death of Christ who shed his blood for us. When we are forgiven, Satan cannot accuse us any more. It says in the Lord's prayer "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one".

We can only fall into temptation if there is sin in our lifes that is not confessed our cleanses by his blood. If there is unconfessed sin in our lives, Satan can accuse us before God and is allowed exploit our sinful attitude to a certain degree. God will then withdraw his protection and the evil one can gain a calculated messure of access into our lives.

When we then cry out to God and confess our sin, his blood does not cover our sins, but cleanses us from our sins. Anything that is only "covered" can be uncovered.

A similar example of this malpractise is the phrase "We bind you Satan in the name of Jesus"
which I would like to discuss in a new thread.

Hi Jeannette,

In Chinese, 'Sing" is heart and 'Ming' is clear so Sing Ming is "clear heart" To crack you up a bit, my surname is Ling, so my full name is Ling Sing Ming.

The time over here now is 9.25am. I went to bed last night pondering and praying over what I should do. Woke up this morning and it's still very much on my mind.

Annie, thanks so much for your words of encouragement. I do not and cannot agree with alot of the things done in the name of the Lord but I do love and appreciate each and everyone of them as sisters in Christ.

Actually, I have shared SI with the group leader and a few others. She truly loves the Lord and I know SI has been a blessing to her. I was invited by her to join the group and I feel I need to talk to her and tell her why I cannot be a part of what I believe is not of the living word.

Thank you all of you, my heart is breaking already.

B
brokenvessel Jul 6, 2007

Dear Annie,

I don't want to change their minds or anything like that. It grieves me how we can love the Lord so much and wanting to know and do His will, and be so sincerely wrong.

My prayer is that God will have mercy on us and the word of spirit and truth sets us free from all these.

You are right, it's so rampant evrywhere.

Thank you bro. Eddie.

Yes, tell me about Jesus, all about Jesus. I do not care for any other 'new' things or teaching that others think God is revealing.
There's only one revelation that i know and yearn for... the revelation of Christ Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. Him and Him only. To behold His righteousness and be satisfied to wake up in His likeness.

God bless.

Dear Eddie and Annie,

My daughter shared what she has journaled down one night during her quiet time with the Lord. I would like to share it here. It really spoke to me. Her name is Wern Wern, 23yrs old. Please keep her in prayer too. She's due to give birth in two weeks time so Annie, I'm going to be a granny too. Yippee, hallelujah!

God, He is good, never wrong, is always just.
God, He is strict, never wavers, His ways are straight.
God, He is grace, never forgets, the frailty of His creations.
God, He is love, always kind, full of compassion.
God, He reigns, cannot be questioned, can never make a mistake.
God, He is King, His throne is established, He is alpha, He is omega.

Lord, I worship You.

He looks down from heaven in search of one who knows Him. He searches
through the earth to find one who He can delight. He looks at all
corners of the earth to find one who He can pour out the storehouses
of wisdom and understanding about His kingdom. He searches the hearts
of man and desires to find one whose heart is pure before Him, whose
heart is wholly unto the Lord in fear and trembling. He searches the
churches to find one who loves Him so that He may take delight in
this man and receive glory because of the heart of this man.

You who are in the heavens look at the heart of man. Your choice
servants are dealt with at their hearts. The ones You chose, You
guard their hearts and not their works. You discipline them and mould
theirs hearts through circumstances. These are Your choice
servants... the ones You break but protect, the ones You prune and
refine in the heart. You make Yourself known to those who seek You.
You show them Your desire, Your desire for a heart that is pure and
upright so that on the day of judgement, Your army of righteous
hearts and steadfast spirits shall be Your glory.

You send rain to both the good and the evil. It seems that both the
good and the wicked can prosper and it seems that both the good and
the wicked can be morally upright. But You look at the heart of those
who truly love You and fear You. When kingdom comes, the rest will be
burnt like chaff but those who know You will bring You glory. These
are Your choice servants. Let me not be foolish to think like people
who do not know God. Let me not weigh my righteousness according to
my successes or my persecution, by my riches or my achievements. My
ways are corruptible and my achievements are perishable but let my
heart be right in your sight for what good is it if I cannot be with
my Lord and give Him glory. If I have spent my life chasing after the
wind not knowing that the fire is at the door. Yet not in fear of
death but in fear of eternal separation from my God.

I give You my heart. By Your grace, I shall forever look to You for
counsel and not look for wisdom about Your kingdom from the lips of
the world. By Your grace I shall come before You everyday to seek
understanding so that I will be filled with Your truth, knowledge,
and reason. I will cast down my pride and beat down the temptations
with all of my strength so that Your counsel will always fall on my
ears and I will not turn away from Your teachings. Circumcise my
heart, prune it, guard it, protect it as Your prize possession, let
my heart be Yours, pleasing unto You.

Oh Sing Ming, you must be very proud of your daughter. She has written what so many have failed to find or express.
I know it was you who passed on to your daughter such insight into the True God & Christ Jesus.

I would like to copy this and send it to my daughter.
She has only been married 5 years and has two little ones and we are finding out her husband is dying.
I know reading this will strengthen her.
You tell Wern Wern that her quiet time has become a blessing for many. GOD has blessed her with the expression of His greatness toward us.

I bless you our Sister and your very dear daughter and pray you all will always feel the safety of His Strong Arms ... no matter what.

Praise God that you found us here to bless us so.

We will keep you and yours in our prayers and please for us, as we need it more than most do.
Those countries that have seen more hardships, have learned the Glories of a Living Savior that most of us cannot see yet.

Bless you deeply and sincerely.
Your Sister in His Precious Love.

Oh dear Annie,
Your daughter is my daughter too in Him. Thank you for sharing her with me. My heart goes out to her and I join my heart to you in prayer for her. We are all in the same household.

I am very blessed with my daughters. Wern Wern is the one whom the Lord has given me to share and have the joy of fellowship in the Lord. My other daughter, Xhen Xhen is nine years old. My husband is a businessman and travels a lot. He will be going to Anaheim, Ca this Sunday.

I do not know why but I felt I just have to share what Wern Wern wrote down. Each time, I read it to remind myself of His grace and mercy, I will cry. My Lord, my God, there's none like Him.

Thank you for making me feel so welcome. The Lord's graciousness in you warms my heart.

Love in Him always.
