Where did church discipline go in America?

Matt 18:16-18

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Restoration should be the first and foremost attitude of disipline. Why does things in the church not get confronted most of the time?
1 Tim 5:19-21

19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

Church discipline went out the window a long time ago, and that is why there is so much sin tolerated in the church today.

No one wants to deal with sin in the camp. And the whole "seeker-sensitive" movement should be renamed to "sin tolerance" movement because that is exactly what it is.

And what should we expect? No one preaches repentence anymore.

As we as Christians started to do what was right in our own eyes, Church discipline went by the way side. We see so much today in the American church the condition of the Israelites in Judges.

In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. Judges 21:25.

Because Jesus has become to many an hour on Sunday, many have lost the KING. Thus how can there be discipline in this age of it's ok if it's ok with me.
