Reading News headlines

Greetings brothers and sisters

I have found myself struggling when it comes to reading the daily news headlines. Most of the articles seem to be gossip or imagery that does not do anything to draw me closer to the Lord. After reading the days top headlines I find myself feeling discouraged, and even at times find that some of the stories have caused thoughts or images that I wish later I had never heard or listened to. Some of the articles are filled with perversion and inappropriate material, all though it is written as news they go into such detail that some of it could be considered pornography. I am troubled because my desire is to keep my focus on the Lord Jesus and nothing else but I have been told by others that it is foolish not to keep current on events and world happenings. Has anyone else found this to be a struggle for themselves? Are there news sites that are out there that follow a Biblical standard for one to read with out all the excess???

God Bless you

MaryJane

I agree that some of the news items being posted are not that beneficial towards edifying or even as a plausible prayer point to intercede on behalf of. Especially those points towards certain political views are not that beneficial in my estimation.

I do not keep up with mainstream news any where as often as I did before I was saved and grew in the word. I have gradually drifted to other sources for news. It is the same news, but in a different prospective. One way you know if something if from the devil or God is the devil's news gives no hope in his news and God's always does give hope. You might try this source below. I do not agree with everything on this site that is said and done, but it certainly is more in tune with the Lord and the HIS truth than the mainstream and not near as depressing.

Too often what we see in the media is not
encouraging, not edifying, and very materially
and worldly focused. A lot of what is given
press is sensationalistic and a sad commentary
on the state of society in general.
