KATHMANDU (Reuters) - Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said Tuesday.

Nepal Airlines, which has two Boeing aircraft, has had to suspend some services in recent weeks due the problem.
The goats were sacrificed in front of the troublesome aircraft Sunday at Nepal's only international airport in Kathmandu in accordance with Hindu traditions, an official said. ...

It is common in Nepal to sacrifice animals like goats and buffaloes to appease different Hindu deities.

There is only one that appeased the wrath of the LORD God, and that was the sacrificial act of Himself on the cross.

I am so glad that our God is not foaming at the mouth and constantly boiling in rage like the other heathen gods that they need to appease every time something goes wrong, but our God the LORD Jesus Christ is a God of Love, Judgment and Righteousness.

Linn, I never gave it a thought. I have never thought to tell anyone the gospel outside of where I am, because this city that I live in is a mission field all it's own. I feel the emptiness of the people here, at the same time a hunger for something real, even among church goers. I love the inhabitants of this city. A friend of mine who has moved away to a booming city has been badgering me to move saying, "There is nothing here anymore, there is so much more to offer else where." Yet, I feel compelled to stay here, God wants me right where I am, and I am staying.

I pray for my city and country, and I know it sounds awful, but I don't pray for any other. I have interceded in the Spirit for situations that could be outside this city, the LORD knows.
