Should I convert to Mormonism?

Dear Saints,

This question does not plague me, but it does bother perhaps thousands everyday as Mormon missionaries knock upon doors. Tonight I realized the deception runs deeper than I have ever known - right down to shedding the blood of 120 innocent lives.

Joe and I, along with another brother and Joe's mother ventured to a movie theater and decided to watch "September Dawn". Is this compromise? At first I thought it could be, but I ended the movie with tears and a trembling lip as we saw Mormons, at the order of the late Brigham Young, slaughter 120 innocent men, women and children over a speculation that they had a place in the death of Joseph Smith in Missouri.

The Christian wagon train that fell victim to this devilish attack was completely oblivious to the name of Joseph Smith, and likely had no idea of the fact that he and his brother Hyrum were even murdered. Nevertheless, after the Mormons deceived the Native Americans in the Utah province, telling them these "gentiles" had poisoned their water with poisoned corn, even flattering them by stating, "we are all Mormons here". Needless to say the Indians attacked the small wagon train, and were driven to retreat as the they defended themselves against the indians. This infuriated them as the Mormon spokesmen, David Lee, had told them god had said no indian braves would die.

After this attack the Mormons approached the wagon train and told them they had the "savages" under control and had come to escort them safely to Cedar City, and then they could be cared for and let go safely to California, their final destination. This offer appealed to the Christians greatly as the attack depleted their ammunition, water and food, and consequently they accepted the seemingly generous offer, being naive of the ulterior motives of both Brigham Young and the Mormon church.

When the escort began the children, 8 and under, were placed in a wagon separated, and against their mothers wills. The men and women were separated very large distance, and their weapons were confiscated to, as the Mormon militia said, avoid the appearance of threat as they trod the indian territory. This perfectly set up the innocent and now defenseless Christian wagon train for the attack that was supposedly "ordered by God".

At one point the leader of the Mormon militia stopped the men and allowed for the women to gain a greater lead on them, and then proceeded to shout, "Mormons do your duty", at that the Mormons all pulled out weapons and began to massacre these innocent victims in cold blood. All were killed, men, women and children; and not an ounce of mercy was shown. This was all to fulfill the mandate of god to rid the land of Utah, the Mormon "Zion", of the "gentile filth" whom the Mormons had prayed for god to curse and d**n them eternally.

The only one to be convicted of this heinous crime was Lee, the adopted son of Brigham Young. He was executed at gunpoint before an American firing squad nearly a year and half after the initial crime had occurred. Young escaped punishment by committing perjury when on trial, and still today the LDS church denies any and all connection with the "Mountain Meadow Massacre"; despite the overwhelming evidence and historical proofs.

So should I convert to Mormonism? The answer is an emphatic NO.

I wonder what kind of waves this movie will make in Utah, if it gets much recognition there at all?

Besides the events that the movie depicts as descibed by the other poster, there are many and numerous things profoundly awry in Mormonism and have been from its founding. I have studied Mormonism and have had more than a little contact with their missionaries as we sat and talked openly about the Scriptures and Christ. Mormonism declared war on orthodox Christianity from the earliest days of its founder Joseph Smith and has never relented to this day although Mormons won't openly tell you this. They deny the Trinity, the once for all sacrifice of Christ on the cross and even believe God the Father has a physical body. Jesus was just one of the created angels to them. The list goes on and on. I asked a young Mormon missionary once how many wives did Joseph Smith have and he very innocently told me one. This young missionary had not even been told by those sending him out that Smith actually had 36 wives that we know of and many more are suspected. One of his wives was 14 years old and was told she had to marry him or go to hell. You won't find Momonism letting you in on these facts though and you will not be allowed to read anything but Mormon literature if you join their church. Any church that believes God the Father had actual physical relations with Mary to conceive Christ is not something you should give your allegiance to. I haven't even scratched the surface here. Please good man, by the mercy of the Lord withdraw yourself from considering joining this church. Any lingering doubts you may as to the rightness of this decision will clear themselves up soon I am sure. There are many different sects of Mormonism also. Their church has split and split so how can it be the only true church? I'll be glad to talk further if you desire.

I must agree. I have talked with many mormons and I think it shouldnt be called mormonism but moronism! They completely reject the Diety of Christ and they ignore the teachings of the Bible for the sake of their OWN book! The Bible has loads of evidence and is about a real people-the Jews. The book of mormon on the other hand has been proven to be complete fantasy.

If you ever want to read something interesting, do a search for Joseph Smith's "experience" that he had with God(so he says). Then compare that to the experience of Charles Finney. The similarities are frightening :-?
