homosexuals at NC State

N
Nile Sep 14, 2007

The homosexuals have chalked the brickyard at State, i.e., they've written stuff everywhere with chalk (this is allowed). Stuff like, "Gays Rock My Socks", "Gender Doesn't Matter", "Preach Love", ect. It makes me pretty infuriated. As soon as I make some Christian friends here at State, we're going to chalk the brickyard at least once a month with scripture and a truly "gay" message.

Nile

edit:
To clear up some confusion, when the pro-choice people chalk the brickyard, I'll be just as angry. This isn't an attack on a certain sin. I was just sharing something that happened today. :-/

Yep... and you will probably be charged with a hate crime.

I know a guy who is a professor at NC State, by the way. He works with 4-H. Dr. Michael Martin. I am a firearms instructor for 4-H shooting sports, and have met him a couple times at events.

Hi Nile...

What an opportunity that God has blessed you with to share the true LOVE OF GOD with these individuals! I encourage you to "be angry but sin not" in regards to this particular sinful "lifestyle." Remember, the sin of homosexuality is just as detestable in the sight of God as any other sin.

There are some homosexuals who, deep down, know that their lifestyle and sensual lusts are unnatural. However, there are others whose "consciences are branded" and openly promote the lifestyle in an almost militant fashion. But do not fear! If you are led of the Lord, then the results can only be for the good! Just be careful to distinguish between sharing the "good news" of a future Hell - and - the "good news" of a God who wants to love us and fellowship with us, and thereby exempt us from the penalty for our past.

I will be praying for you!

:-)

Amen brother Chris, thanks for the gentle reminder.

I encourage you to "be angry but sin not" in regards to this particular sinful "lifestyle." Remember, the sin of homosexuality is just as detestable in the sight of God as any other sin.

Lets not speak with anger in our hearts, but wait on God to fill your heart with compassion for these lost souls, and then open your mouth (or chalkbox).

In Christ,

Ron

Thanks everyone for the comments, advice, prayers.
Also, I just wanted to say that I sound more frustrated in my original post than I actually am.
I'm also saddened, but I have hope. It's a reminder to pray for all the students on campus.

It seems like your infuriation draws more out of your own discriminatory spirit than anything else. Your attitude is a bit condescending, particularly expressed in the last sentence.

I'm tired of this fundamentalist mentality towards gays. They are not to be condemned. They should be looked at as a discriminated group, much like blacks used to be, and should be brought into the church with open, loving arms. And even if you find that they are/what they do being sinful, you should still love them and not speak down to them in this manner.

Personally, while the Bible does say No to homosexuality-- I believe it is not referring to loving relationships, but to abusive relationships/perversions that were known at the time (Pederasty, male prostitution, etc.)

The Bible says Yes to the oppressed through Jesus. And I cannot think of a more oppressed group today than homosexuals, which whom the church should be opening up to, and not condemning. Loving and caring for. We wouldn't turn away a couple that was morbidly obese at one of our churches, would we? And tell them to forsake their gluttony or not come in? (I don't view being obese as a sin, of course.)

I am baffled at how many Christians get so fired up about homosexuality, when little attention is given to the things Jesus was focused on-- i.e. the poor, oppressed, etc. It's not a theological matter of "rights" or whatever, but divine grace.

God can set homosexuals free from all their wickedness.

I hope to go to NC State soon this upcoming month to preach the gospel to the Sodomites there.

God is able to save to the uttermost.

Hi Nile,

I'd like to give you some food for thought.

I believe the word 'homosexual' is unhelpful on two major counts.

First, no matter how keen or scandalised a man (or woman) is about having that kind of sexual motivation, they can change, with God's help.

Secondly, the word 'homosexual' is used like a biologist would use a technical term, which describes an incontrovertible part of the nature of the creature being described (even though in this case, it may be temporary). Therefore, if I may recommend something, it is that you don't think of these guys as 'homosexuals' but as men who are locked in idolatrous practices.

Romans 1 tells us they have made a choice to ignore God and what may be known of Him through creation, and the whole chapter seems to give little hope, but, after Paul has layered the faults and unacceptability of the practices, he still calls out those who would judge (if they do so before they have judged themselves guilty of equally unacceptable practices), and reminds us all that it's 'the goodness of God' which 'leads [us] to repentance'. This is a key portion of scripture where hope as a commodity, abounds.

Also, I would suggest that many who engage in some sort of homosexual practice, do so because they have been inveigled into it by someone older, at a time when they were vulnerable to believe the older person(s). Afterwards, they are not necessarily happy with themselves and whatever virginity they had, they have lost. Remember that some of these will have been sexually abused as children.... which was never their own fault... so, please, exercise compassion.

There is a lot of confusion out there, and at least some young men would be willing to receive the truth about Jesus, as long as you offer it in such a way as to acknowledge their humanity rather than their particular form of sinfulness. They will appreciate you for this, and some may confide in you, if you love them.

Who wasn't sinful before their salvation?

I believe it is not referring to loving relationships,
You are way off the line here brother. Loving relationships which lead to sexual behaviour between two males or two females is strictly forbidden in scripture.

Paul lays out exactly how and why, and his list a the end of Romans 1 is a description of the progression which the homosexuals' minds experience as they yield to this particular sin.

I agree with Jesse that they can be set free, but don't let's kid ourselves. When in Genesis 14 the king of Sodom turned up in the place of worship between Melchizedek and Abraham, his only interest was this 'Give me the souls!' (and you [Abraham] can keep the merchanidise).

This audacity of the spirit which promotes sodomy, to be comfortable in God's very presence, is a lying spirit. God is not mocked nor deceived. The person who thinks they can continue in homosexual practice and be saved, is deceived. It is a lie. In a way, homosexuality is a lie.

While the king of Sodom offered Abraham the 'stuff' (and Abraham declined for other reasons), if there is any biblical character who knows how to make merchandise of souls, it is the king of Sodom, who is unashamedly predatory.

Btw, Nile, you will make more friends amongst the heterosexual community if you treat everyone with the same respect. In the eyes of the watching world, that will be noted.

I just wanted to add that I don't think it's right to refer to them as "gay". That is such a nice, positive word. The bible uses words like "vile" "unnatural" "shameful" "abominable", etc. That is what God says about it. There is nothing gay about getting aids and going to hell.

Leonard Ravenhill said that "gays" used to be called filthy dirty Sodomites. Leonard also said we sure would be in trouble if we got back to biblical language. My bible doesn't call them "gay" but calls them "abominable" "homosexuals" and "sodomites".

I love homosexuals. And love speaks the truth. You would not believe how many sodomites I meet as I travel full time to America's universities to preach open air. It is spreading like a plague! And so I speak the truth in love. I tell them to remember Sodom and Gomorrah and that the consequences of their sodomizing is HIV, AIDS, and then finally hell if they don't repent of their sins and put their faith in Christ.

That is what I plan on preaching at NC State this upcoming month. I want to remind them about how God rained hell out of Heaven to kill two entire cities full of Sodomites. That tells us something about God!

Nonetheless, Christ had died for all men and God gives us the ability to cease from all sin. So we must preach to homosexuals not only that they are wicked and deserve hell, but also that they must turn to Jesus and cease from sin if they are going to be forgiven.

Jesse said

they must turn to Jesus
Yes. He will heal their bodies, and minds, and if they repent, they will be forgiven.

and cease from sin
... because now they have been saved by faith in the finished work of Christ, and receiving His Spirit, they will find their inner man strenthened to walk in newness of [His] life.

if they are going to be forgiven.
I don't believe anyone can honestly cease from sin before they have been forgiven.

They may be able to cease some of the motions of those sins, but their mind and heart need more than natural willpower.

It is God's forgiveness which washes the sin away, such that they can appear in His presence and cry 'Father', according to the spirit of adoption. Now, they can cease from sin.

One of the area's that grieves my spirit the most is when it comes to attacks on certain sins.

Firstly any one that does not have the spirit of the lord Jesus Christ in their hearts does not belong to God and only God can see the inner man.
we can only judge by the fruit of that person whether or not God is in him or by direct revelation of God towards that person.

Secondly we are all born into sin and does it not show in Gods word that If God is not our father then Satan is our father and that we will grow in his image?.

therefore we are either of God or of satan. All people that are under satan that do not turn from their ways will not see heaven.

All sin is accountable before God and yet we fall into area's were we seperate sins that are more visible with our natural eyes then those that cannot be seen with our natural eye's. if you are to pose this much passion towards one sin then you should have the same passion for all sin or else you are a pharisee in heart.

seeing "gay and lesbian" attitudes is more clear in our visual eye's because of the promotion shown outwardly of this sin. Therefore some people of bible beliefs can attack it knowing that most religeous organisations and people will back their beliefs because of the physical evidence. I must say i hate what all sin does to anyone and many times i have had to shut my mouth because the anwser that would have come out of my mouth was a fleshly response.

The bible clearly shows that sin will lead to certain outcomes and eventually death. We know as spiritual children of God the truth of this because God revealed it to us personally in Love either by way of rebuke or lifting.

Gods people in church that show sin by fruit should be dealt with, with more passion then people that do not know God because they proffess to know God.

we need to ask our self these questions everytime we are confronted with sinfull people

Is our judgment of people in sin going to bring them to the lord jesus christ or are we going to turn their hearts away from God?

Who will be exalted in glory by my responses to this person, will it be the lord or the justifcation of my own sinfull nature?

Brothers and sisters this site is viewed by people who have every kind of sin in the bible and we must watch our responses towards them. As we do not know the hearts of those that are viewing this site. We must first give our lives to Jesus before he can deal with our sin then it is the lord who will reveal the sin to the individual.

I deal with a lot of people that are stuck in the area of homosexuality and 90% of them that i have spoken with have been sexually abused and rejected by the community. We were not their as they cried into the night as they were getting abused as young children or when they felt so hopelessly lost that they had pressed a razor into their own blood veins.

people in sin Like homosexuality have so many barriers in their heart becasue of christians that passionatley point out the obvious to them that they have heard a thousand times.

Hate the sin not the person, or else you'll throw the baby out with the bath water.

my reply wasn't trying to be a rebuke i felt that i had to respond because it is a subject sorrounded by personal, cultural and spiritual beliefs and can be misunderstood of which is which.

I feel that it is a topic that needs to be discussed from a christian perspective but our own belief should be in line with Christ and not just our own bible understandings.

The question I ask is how do we as spiritual soldiers of Christ win these souls to the kingdom of God?

Can the lord use us to do this when dealing with a group of like minded sinners or do they have to be individuals?

This discussion is locked.
