Deceptions running abound!!

At this present time it seems that deceptions run abound in the church.

Noting some authors who I disagree with people like Rob Bell, Stuart bell and Rick Warren and others.

2Th 2:3 - Show Context
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

It is my own heart that has been under attack the most.
People thinking that maybe the things that happened years ago were not as bad as they really are?
I wanted to actually stand up and tell these people what the bible actually says as they do not seem to use it and consider it mandatory.

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

It seems that many people today are impressed with ministries with miracles.
I love god to do miracles but it saddens me when and if that these ministries do not glorify jesus or they are after finanicial gain,
having barely much money at the moment personally.

It so saddens me when people prophesy material things such as buildings or other things.

Also such things as the exclusion of Israel and how we are going to have a mighty church at the end.
Alluding to the cross but never actually leading a cross driven life or the actual cross.

It seems the church is full of so many organisations that are more wordly in the way that they run things. Interested in running there own kingdoms down here whilst the kingdom of jesus is neglected.
I have no problems in stopping slavery, fair trade and other such things but it seems. It seems that the love of Jesus is missing.

As I have done business it is quite often that business theory seems to dogmatically plague the church. Business Theory and other theories and connecting to the world.
What gospel are they preaching is it the gospel of christ

Galatians 1:6-9
6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

2Th 2:10 - Show Context
and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

I also point my finger my way aswell. What false things have I got myself into, what lies have i accepted.

I think my most commen saying is I am a mess and I need Jesus as I do not what is going on in the world as everything seems to be going crazy.

I feel sorry for people who are looking after Jesus and walk into a christian bookshop and see the books that they have to wade through to find something true.

Now do you not think one of the best defenses a Christian can have is to simply refrain from reading too much, especially modern lit penned in recent years? When our appetite is greater for modern writngs then it is for the Word of God, should this not be a warning signal to us that we have displaced the genuine, raw word of God for something else?

(Moderns appear to be more knowledgeable about contemporary writers then they are about Paul, Amos, Obadiah, Moses, et al.)

This is what challenges me: why would I rather read or use as a reference any other kind of lit then the Word of God? Gets us all I would imagine and that is why apostasy is so rampant, do you not think?

I agree with you Ginnyrose and I have to say this has been on my heart so much this past few weeks. I have been spending so much time reading what others have to say about God's Word instead of just reading His Word. I do not think it is bad necessarily to read others writings but I will admit that even reading some of the postings on SI was causing me confusion. It was not until I got into the Word and spent time with the Lord that I was able to discern through it all.

As I work in the christian bookshop it is something that you can tell by there covers.
It is almost as if we take this thing for granted it is normal.
I love the bible and would put it above any book on the bookshelf, the bible is its essence points to Jesus.
What would are lives be if Martin Luther had never stood up to the Catholic church or William Tyndale did not deside to produce the bible or Arius decided to go along with the Anti-trinitarian doctrine.

The thing is that I care for the average christian in the average church, I would not evangelise if that was the case. Because say a person picks up a track from the street and then say go's into a bookshop and is hit by a mound of things.

It is true that people are reading their bible less these days but why?
