Eritrean Christians Describe Anti-Faith Torture Methods

For Paulus, an Eritrean refugee in northern Ethiopia, a helicopter is not only an aircraft people can spot above in the sky, but also a form of torture where victims are forced to balance on their belly with hands and feet tied together and legs bent behind their back.

And the evangelical Christian said he knows “the helicopter” well because, he claims, he was tied in that position for 136 hours in an effort to pressure him to recant his faith.

“They kept asking me to sign a document,” he told BBC News in a report last week, “and agree to not participate in church activities or express my faith in any form. I was told I would be untied and released the minute I agreed to their requests.”
Sitting in Shimelba refugee camp close to the border of Eritrea, Paulus told of different torture techniques he endured in his homeland for being an evangelical Christian. ...

Let us not forget our brothers in chains. Thanks, Greg, for this news article. I had no idea about anything in Eritrea, let alone such persecution. It saddens my heart, yet I pray to our God:

Lord, give them strength supernatural! I pray that they will not deny you, nor succumb to the attacks of the devil. Use this for good, Father.

Please pray for them brothers. I pray that this dictator Issayas Afeworki may be overthrown. Eritrea is a country which separated from Ethiopia 15 yrs ago. These people are Ethiopians we speak same language and we are one people. But this dictator came and toppled the central government of Ethiopia along with other rebels claiming to free the people of Eritrea from the grip of the then military junta. But he is acting worse than the previous Ethiopian government. Our brothers are suffering! The dictator sides the Arab nations and wants to convert Eritrea to Islam nation. May the Almighty judge and arise on behalf of Eritrea! We Ethiopians are liberated from the previous military junta that persecutes Christians in an unfathomable suffering. We have our religious freedom now but these poor people in the name of liberation are still suffering! Please pray for them!

Lord I pray for all the Saints, everywhere.

We in free countries, have no idea what we're talking about sometimes. To live under such oppression everyday, to suffer hunger, and not even have a roof over one's head. Very few Christians grasp this. But that's my worst fear I suppose. That we don't even think it will happen here.

We have to pray for all Saints, everywhere.
God will honor that when our time comes.
