Lamentations 3:20-32
My soul still remembers
And sinks within me.
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"Therefore I hope in Him!"
The Lord is [b]good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that [b]one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the Lord.[b]It is good for a man to bear
The yoke in his youth.[b]Let him sit alone and keep silent,
Because God has laid it on him;[b]Let him put his mouth in the dust-
There may yet be hope.
Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him,
And be full of reproach.
For the Lord will not cast off forever.
Though He causes grief,
Yet He will show compassion
According to the multitude of His mercies
Curious about these verses, this passage keeps coming to me over the years. I have a interpretation of this, but not sure. I highlighted certain key verses in bold that really speak to me.
The promise that God is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him is evident what that means. However, the rest can be somewhat confusing because taking it literal that the Lord would want me to sit alone and be quiet, hope and wait quietly, putting my face in prayer and repentance. Being alone is not good, but does God call people to be alone for a time and what would indicate on being alone?
I have wrestled with the passage for awhile and not sure what God wants from me? I have asked what He would desire from me, but I can't seem to hear clearly? need some counsel?
