I have hesitated to write this account for some time now.
I didn't know if the time was right, and I still don't know. However, I'll begin.
Many desire to see revival, a spiritual awakening, call it what you prefer.
Well, about 25 years ago, I did see what I would call a revival.
At the time I had been saved about 6 months, so I didn't know then what I know now.
What prayer was made before the revival came, I don't know, but I do know it was not because of my prayers. Oh yes, I prayed, but what is revival praying to someone who has been saved 6 months.
Leading up to the revival, the following happened.
There was a sister in the Lord, who had been saved 3 months, who suffered a stroke and died.
She was 21 years old.
I knew her from school, she was a year older than me.
Not long after her death, her brother, sister and friends started coming to church. Eventually they got saved.
Things began to move. A good number of the girl's family and friends got saved. Church was getting exciting, that I remember.
There was an unusual urgency to be at church.
Services would usually have 150-200 people attend.
That increased.
A guest speaker was invited to preach one Saturday night.
We left home an hour early to get a good seat, and people were already there when we arrived.
About 600 people managed to get into the building, with others outside in the main entrance, and others who stayed outside because they could not get in.
The Sunday morning, church was full again, and also Sunday night.
Many who got saved had come from a life of crime and some had served time in prison.
As time went by, even unsaved people were talking about it and coming to church to see what was happening.
The revival lasted a few months, and even after it diminished, things were not the same in the church.
I don't want to exaggerate in anyway, but, this is what took place and what I saw.
I haven't told everything, and there is more to tell, but if I did I'd be writing a book.
