I read a post on Oral Roberts and researched this man's ministry. In an explaination of his ministry, it was stated that he was one of the forerunners of teaching a doctrine of 'seed-faith."

Early this year I went to a Benny Hinn conference and found this doctrine being taught concerning money...

I have witnessed others on this forum preach about what seems to sound like this doctrine started by Oral Robers.

What all does this doctrine profess and how does it permeate one's walk with Christ?

I have witnessed others on this forum preach about what seems to sound like this doctrine started by Oral Robers.

I haven't witness anyone on here thats been preaching from the word of faith movement,concerning money and stuff, but then again, I don't read all the post either.

Just like the word of faith goes to one extreme of faith, using faith to please flesh, christians can go to the other extreme and live in an always repenting/condemning life and never having victory over sin and receiving "spiritual" blessings. Thats just as bad as the word of faith movement.

I think the idea is that you "plant a seed", usually a gift of money to the ministry that preaches that you should plant a seed (!!!), and that you will, in due course, reap a "harvest" (increased personal prosperity, healing, success, resolution of various other problems etc)

I always find it "funny", ironic is probably better word...that the WOF have faith to heal cancer and raise dead and casting out demons , but not God giving them money, the congregation or TV-Viewers must sent in that .... strange God that one.... one could think such a God would provide for hos "mighty" servants....

The first biblical account of a seed faith being sown...

Acts 8:
16because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

18When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money 19and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."

20Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin."

I was too lazy to do more research on the teachings of Oral Roberts. I have not witnessed on SI the manifestations of "seed-faith" in the form of money or healing. I was just looking for more info on what else is taught in line with this doctrine of "seed faith."

Somehow I get the sense that this sounds like "blind faith."

It is a very blind faith and the people that are scammed into it are the people that are blinded by their own greed. It's built on self-centeredness and is loved and clung to by the selfish. I think anyone who is sincere in their desire to follow God sees through all that "seed-faith" garbage very quickly. God won't be a puppet to go around satisfying the self-idolatry of man.

I never thought about it in this way, but you are so right AND it is terribly funny!

On the other hand if you were the one duped into believing this theory, it could make you mad: I am told to believe something they will not just get my hard earned money - that they will spend on luxurious living! Stinks like a kettle of fish that has sat in the sun all day! :-P

That's an excellent point Christian!!

When my friend told me that she was WOF, (paraphrased) if they were not rich it was because THEY couldn't get it right and God was withholding the money from them until THEY had enough faith. [It's all about them and not about God].

I asked her, "do you have enough money to pay your bills? to build a $100,000 house that you guys just built?" She said yes, BUT she wanted enough money for God to be able to use her to pay cash for a car for someone. I was dumbfounded. It's about THEM blessing someone not about God doing it.

That's just my experience with my friend.
