I was thinking of Ravenhills' question. What are you saved from?
I really thought about that.
I've come to the conclusion that it's not what were saved from, it's who were saved for.

Fortunately "if" we sin we have a advocate. But Christ does not "advocate" sin in any way. There are times to be encouraged to not sin but there are times to be encouraged to flee from sin, surely only then we are able to walk as Christ intended for us to walk. And I do agree that it ultimately is Him who enables us to walk in holiness but that does not give us freedom to sin in any way.

I am not saying I do not sin brother, we all have had and are struggling with sin. But we have the promises of God that we can conquer sin through the blood and work of Christ. Be encouraged brother, we are saved from sin and "are" being saved from sins. I need to be saved from sin daily.. and I have had besetting sins in my life, but praise be to God for His deliverance.

I am reminded of some teaching I heard years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the speaker, which is a shame, because I've never forgotten the teaching, especially considering the fact that this was 20 or more years ago.
Rahman's remark about Hell reminded me of that teaching, or part of it anyway. It was about true Christian commitment. Essentially, it went something like this:
Our commitment should be such that we are willing to sacrifice our own salvation [salvation as he spoke it meant whether or not we end up in hell]. In other words, if I can bring the most glory to God by being sent to Hell, by witnessing to the condemned sinners there and declaring God's greatness and the sacrifice and victory of the Lord Jesus Christ, then God, send me to Hell!
This next paragraph and the ones following may be a bit off-topic, for which I apologize. But it seems to me that the idea of whether I am saved [i]from[i]for
What is relevant is that I chose to rebel against God: willfully, proudly, arrogantly, hatefully, despicably. Our heavenly Father chose to return my hatred with love, by sacrificing his only Son. The Lord Jesus Christ chose to offer his life as a substitute for the punishment that I rightfully and justly deserve.
I've been saved from death, spiritual death. Whether I die physically or not doesn't matter to me. I've been saved for a life of righteousness and holiness and glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ. Glorifying the Lord Jesus is the only salvation that I care about.
So, like that preacher 20+ years ago, I pray that if the greatest glory I can give to the Lord Jesus is by declaring the greatness of the Lord Jesus while suffering the torment and agony of Hell, then I pray that God send me there, now.

It's not one or the other, it's both.
When he asked that question Mr. Ravenhill was really trying to combat the notion that salvation is just getting your ticket punched for heaven. Scripture is clear that Jesus came to save us from our sins, not in our sins.
But you are right in that there is another aspect of salvation. I believe that is demonstrated in the book of Exodus where Moses wrote...
And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant. Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.

I agree that it is both... and yet after a few :-) years of being a Christian I can tell you several pages of things that God has saved me from and I suspect that many more of us could... in fact as I look at my precious family and loved ones and friends and at life itself, I shudder to think of the things that God has saved me from...
As Ravenhill says regarding this whole world "it is a system of corrrruption from the word go..." Thank God for all the corruption that could have been and would have been EXCEPT...Except for the wonderful mercy and grace of God...
