(NKJV) John 7:45 to end

Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why have you not brought Him?" The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!"

Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed."

Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them, "~~[b]~~Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing[/b]"

They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."

And everyone went to his ~~[i]~~own[/i] house.

Is that aspect of the law referred to by Nicodemus, one of those which is written on the hearts and minds of New Covenant believers now?

Good point, I believe with most Christians, they do not understand the term judgment, nor the need for the proper use.

I have spent my Christian life in pursuit of greater discernment, so that God would reveal to me the heart, and mind, and thoughts of those around me. He has shown me many things, and told me many things about people that I did not know. As a result, I have had to be careful with my judgment, because knowing things about people like that can sometimes affect your attitude towards them.

Definitely a good point, and place of checking our attitude before God.

The more you know about the real thing the harder it becomes to be counterfeited in His
presense, The Real Thing. The fulfilled Law Himself.

Hi Dorcas,

I'm not sure about other implications but it called to mind Deuteronomy 17:2-6. I think though you may have something else in mind? Perhaps considering Romans 8:16, and perhaps 1John 3:19-22. Rev 2:23 just came to mind also.

Yes, completely.

Romans 8:14-16 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

I don't fear being condemned, that was taken care of at the Cross and because I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I have that witness in myself, praise God.

1 John 3:19-24 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

What else can be said? These are those that are in Christ.

Thanks, Phillip, for posting some of those scriptures Chris suggested. I see you picked the ones about being searched by the Lord, or, being found secure in Him. Here are the others, which are more about what God or man will do if a person is found wanting:

Rev 2:23
"I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Deuteronomy 17:2 - 6
"If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the LORD your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the LORD your God, in transgressing His covenant, who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, and it is told you, and you hear ~~[i]~~of it,[/i] ~~[u]~~then you shall inquire diligently[/u]. And if ~~[i]~~it is[/i] indeed true ~~[i]~~and[/i] certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones. Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness.
