Ancient Israel, a Lesson to the Church Today...
There are much symbolic similarities between the time that the prophet Jeremiah warned Israel – the people of Judah before her captivity to Babylon and the Church today. The people of Judah received warning after warning, rebuke after rebuke, warning them of the impending disaster.

However, they chose to disobey The Voice of The Lord and as such judgment and chastisement fell on Judah and she was carried away to Babylon into captivity where she spent a period of seventy years.

The people of Judah rejected the message of the Prophet Jeremiah; they rejected the counsel of God’s Word and as such were totally given over to the sword of the King of Babylon.

The Lord made sure that He placed exit routes for the people of Judah to escape the impending judgment but repeatedly they refused and were stubborn at heart and very rebellious towards The Lord God of Heaven and Earth.

Interestingly when Judgment came to the people of Judah as we read in Jeremiah 39, not only was there judgment on the religious establishment but even the political and economical establishments, the very things that the Israelites trusted is what The Lord judged and threw down.

The Book of Jeremiah, a Warning to the Church today...
Today the Church of Jesus Christ, which ironically loves to call itself the “spiritual Israel” is doing just the same thing. The Church has and is committing the exact same sin that The Lord alludes to in Jeremiah 3. The Book of Jeremiah should be a warning to all those who call themselves Christians today. As a matter of fact Jeremiah 3 is an indictment against the Church today for forsaking their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and going after Man.

Looking carefully at Jeremiah 3, The Lord states His case against the people of Judah and today symbolically stating this same case against the Church or those who call themselves by the Name of The Lord – Christians…

Jeremiah 3:1-25
(1) They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
(2) Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lain with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.

The Lord clearly spells out to Israel that they were playing the Harlot. They were in love with other lovers and had forsaken The Lord to whom they were engaged. The church today with exception of a few remnant Christians is too engaged in this type of harlotry. So, what is Harlotry anyway?

Brother, only posting to this because I noticed just how many times he mentions "following man".

That point kept leaping off the page to me.

Brother - this is serious. In "these days", the church has eaten from another tree.

John warned us that the spirit of anti-Christ would increase exponentially in the last days.

That is when man eats again of the tree of 'Knowledge' rather than from HIM - The Tree of 'Life'.

Man promotes himself - others follow man.

THAT is the "spirit of anti-Christ" that JESUS and John warned of.

"Ye shall become as gods"

Whenever a man WANTS to be "followed" - he is making himself "In place of God" (what "anti" means) to the people or the Sheep.

This is what we must "watch" for - as JESUS said.

When man's words are looked to more than HIS WORDS and "love" has a "new definition" and we try to learn more from men than the Spirit of Truth - through studying His Word with prayer --- than our "Love has grown cold".

If we don't Love Him and HIS Word before all else - than we don't 'LOVE HIM/TRUTH' and the Love we preach is mushy nonsense. It is not Agape.

It is a 'Human love' that is equivalent to that gush that we see strongly in cults. Oh yes, there is also that "mystical feeling of love" that those who do not follow The One True GOD 'feel' and promote.

Men who don't point to HIM alone, but to some system of sorts.

It is "an individual personal intimate Relationship" where "His Sheep KNOW His Voice and won't follow another."
