How to get your name in the Book of Life

I've mentioned this in posts a couple of times, and no-one seems to think it's important enough to comment. Maybe it's not. But the Book of Life didn't start in Revelation. Did you know that?

So, is the common assumption that our name goes into the Book of Life as a [u]result[/u] of believing in Jesus Christ, really what the Bible shows us about it?

If the Bible shows us more, should or should not Christians present to non-Christians its existence, as (if it is) a tool of evangelism?

I'm not sure if that's what you meant.

"Written in" is in Revelations about 5 or 6 times and I know The Book is in the O.T. also - but when do you think these names were "written in"?

Thus we see that the people not worshipping God, do not have their names in the book of life.

Young has this (Rev 13)
6 and it did open its mouth for evil-speaking toward God, to speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle, and of those who in the heaven tabernacle,
7 and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them, and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.
8 And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world;

So here's a question: do we tabernacle in heaven, now?

According to God's Foreknowledge of who would endure unto the end - yes they are. Seated in heavenly places with Christ. I'm not dead yet - so I didn't say we. Persevering/pressing on.
