Woman Aborts Child To Help 'Save' the Planet

sermonindex Nov 28, 2007

A British woman who had an abortion 10 years ago and was later sterilized did so because she believes pregnancy is bad for the environment, the London Daily Mail reported Sunday.

Toni Vernelli, 35, hopes her actions would ensure her carbon footprint would be kept to a minimum, the Mail reported. The environmental advocate also sees having children as an egotistical act.

"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," Vernelli told the Mail, adding she believes bringing new life into the world only adds to the problem.

Yes, I have heard that this is the new line of logic from the environmental extremists. The same ones that want to reduce the world's population. Of course they won't give their lives for "the greater good." (please don't take that the wrong way, I only meant they want other people to die for their cause, not that I want them to die.)

sermonindex Nov 28, 2007

I read this as well... and had the same thought. They are willing to sacrifice the life of another, but not willing to take their own for the good of the environment? Talk about duplicity and selfishness.

I'm not advocating that environmentalists begin taking their own lives.... well, wait... uhm... no, that wouldnt be right...

Anyway, you get my point.

There was a movie that was released just about a year ago the hypothesizes what the world would be like if people stopped having children, ie. mass infertilization. The movie is called 'Children of Men' and this isn't a recommendation, but the movie did have a good message about hope. A world without children is a pretty bleak thing.

I look at the confusion and hysteria and stupidity that is rampant in this world today over such concerns, and how the big corporations just sit back and pull all of the strings... and not just oil companies either, but companies like GE that stand to make windfall profits whenever environmental legislation gets passed... and I have to say... I'm glad this is NOT my home.

Sorry about the "run-on" sentence.

Well, if the environmentalists, the pro-choicers all abort their young, at least they would not be reproducing more of their kind. Add to this mix the homos and lesbians! :-P

Seriously, I am told that in Europe the birth rate is so low that it has some people very concerned about the future of their country as they know it. The people in Europe who are reproducing at an alarming rate are the Muslims. Because of their birthrate alone they could eventually take over Europe without firing a shot!

just when you think you've heard it all something else comes up. This was quite interesting...she sacrificed her baby to "save the world" or reduce her carbon footprint? She could have just made her carbon footprint zero and left a note...*sigh* how vain we are if we think we can saved the world! that thought leads to other foolish things like this.

Then with the concerns sis Ginnyrose raised about the pupulation expolsion of muslims in Europe...yikes...Islam is spreading and these folks are devoted...so much so that they spend much time trying to pick apart the word to disprove it and all manner of things. i pray God reveal Himself to these who have been deceived by this son of satan mohammed...let us pray a Revelation of Jesus to these as to ourselves.AMEN.

Grace and Peace are ours in Jesus.AMEN.

Saw this article from Chuck Colson and remembered this thread.

Really, this is astonishing.

Voluntary Self-Extinction
By Chuck Colson
Tuesday, December 11, 2007

"For decades, British couples campaigned to have infertility treatments included among the treatments provided by the U.K.’s National Health Service. Even after the Service agreed to pay for treatments like in vitro fertilization, there remained a shortage of potential egg donors, so that many British couples had to go overseas in their quest to have a child.

Now, just imagine what they must think now as many young people in their peak child-bearing years are having themselves sterilized as an environmental statement. A recent story in the U.K.’s Daily Mail told readers about British women who refuse to have children because children are not “eco friendly.”

One of these women, Toni, works for an environmental group. She said that she “shudders with horror” at the thought of a “little hand slipping into hers—and a voice calling her Mummy.”

The “shudder” is caused by the thought of the child’s environmental impact. As Dave Barry likes to say, “I am not making this up.” I wish I were.

So, when Toni learned she was pregnant 10 years ago, she quickly had an abortion to “protect the planet.” Then, to make sure that such a “mistake” could not happen again, she had herself sterilized at age 27.

What did the child’s father think about all this? He sent her a “congratulations card” and later married her. Apparently, he agrees that “having children is selfish. It’s all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet . . . ”

Toni is not alone in her sentiments. Another woman named Sarah told the paper that, growing up, she “agonized over the perils” of things like “climate change” and “the loss of animal species.” This led her to decide that she would not have children.

Eventually, Sarah met Mark who felt as passionately about the perils of children as she did. Together, they decided that Mark should undergo voluntary sterilization—in his case, a vasectomy.

They see their actions as part of their commitment to living “as green a life a possible”: recycling, using low-energy light bulbs, eating “organic, locally produced food,” and having themselves sterilized.

While these are extreme cases, the beliefs driving them are anything-but-fringe, especially among environmental activists. Much of their rhetoric depicts the relationship between man and the rest of creation as a “zero-sum game,” in which what is good for people is, by definition, bad for the planet.

It is not uncommon to read about an environmentalist saying that what the planet needs is a good catastrophe to “cull” the human herd. An award-winning scientist said just that last year.

While most people reject that kind of extremism, the basic idea—that large families are “irresponsible”—has spread to much of Western culture. People with large families are looked on as freaks, and complete strangers do not hesitate to tell them so.

However widespread this misanthropic worldview may be, it is folly, as the demographic crisis in Europe and East Asia demonstrate. Societies that view children as a burden find themselves facing extinction. That, in turn, leaves the future of our civilization, and of life itself, in the hands of the fruitful, those who believe that man, created in God’s image, is the crown of creation, not the curse."

Below in the comment section a reader added this...

This idea is definitely catching on.
Here's a letter that appeared in my local newspaper today:

In response to parents concerned about the environment: I have chosen not to breed. No child of mine will ever consume one gram of anything. This is by far the best thing anyone can do for the environment.

But I'm supposed to forego pleasure in life so people who don't have the resources to properly raise a family can have lots of kids?

Your kids take precedence over my life? I can't fly somewhere for a vacation so your kids can consume millions of tons of junk food and toys made in China?

I'm supposed to recycle my garbage to help "preserve" a world so your kids can become future consumerist "debt slaves"?

There is no way I'm giving up my only chance to enjoy life any way I please so that millions of obese spoiled brats can get rides to school (paid for with my taxes) with mommy in an SUV.

If everyone stopped breeding we could calmly shut down civilization (rather than the horrific end we are headed toward) and let the Earth return to the paradise it was before the blight of man.

Who would lose? The unborn? The way things are going I don't think they'll mind.

bro Mike, Greetings in Jesus' Name by Whose Blood we are Saved.AMEN.

thanks for the article you posted here regarding this issue in Europe. man the enemy sure knows how to pull the strings of selfishness alright, so much so that it seems as though we're doing things for the benefit of all when really:

There is no way I'm giving up my only chance to enjoy life any way I please so that millions of obese spoiled brats can get rides to school (paid for with my taxes) with mommy in an SUV.

how deep is the depravity of man...how easily we are misled by the enemy into following our own foolish lusts...

what i find interesting though is that those who so vehemently speak out against having children "for the sake of the earth" and would that a calamity would strike the earth so as to cull the human herd don't offer to sacrifice themselves for that purpose...i don't think they would take kindly to those who would say them "let the culling begin with you..."

God help us, because if not we perish...

Grace and Peace are ours in Jesus.AMEN.

p.s.
sis Ginnyrose raised a good point, at this rate if our Lord tarries, Europe may end up with a Muslim majority, i wonder what these environmentalists would say if they find themselves under sharia law or being carted off to concentration camps...that would reduce their carbon footprint alright...*sigh* :-(

Indeed bro.

I appreciate the precise irony in your analogy: mankind as a puppet whose strings are his own self-will. Only in Christ are we truly cut off from this world and it's strings. All other freedom is an illusion.

Heard about this story just yesterday...

Toddler Tax in Australia After Two Kids: Let’s Tax Colorado Parents with More Than Two Children
Posted by thunderhorse
By Frosty Wooldridge

This week, Australian legislators promoted a “Toddler Tax” of $4,000.00 for parents who bring a third child or more into the world? Why? They face inexorable water problems, energy dilemmas and overpopulation realities. The entire Australian continent features 96 percent desert. They already exceed their carrying capacity as to oil, water and food. They must import commodities to sustain themselves.

If you look at China’s overpopulation plight, it makes sense. China mandates one-child families. Why? They manifest 1.3 billion in 2007 where the US arrogantly proceeds to follow in the early years of the 21st century as it grows by three million annually. The US expects 100 million people in a lightning bolt three decades!

What does that have to do with Colorado? First of all, we exceed our carrying capacity as to water, clean air, food and oil in 2007. We import 60 percent of our oil, endure polluted air, import much of our food and don’t possess enough water for more population gain.

However, “U.S. Population Projections of 2050” by Fogel/Martin March 2006, show Colorado growing from 4.3 million to 9.77 million. If you think we suffer air pollution, traffic gridlock, crowded freeways today, high gas prices and rolling black-outs today, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Colorado’s I-70 into the mountains, no matter how many times you widen it, can’t handle five to six million more people driving cars for camping and skiing on weekends. It’s already a cement parking lot from Denver to Vail!

What about Colorado’s oil crisis?

“The cheap oil age created an artificial bubble of plentitude for a period not much longer than a human lifetime….so I hazard to assert that as oil ceases to be cheap and the world reserves move toward depletion, we will be left with an enormous population…that the ecology of the earth will not support. No political program of birth control will avail. The journey back toward non-oil population homeostasis will not be pretty. We will discover the hard way that population hyper growth was simply a side-effect of the oil age. It was a condition, not a problem with a solution. That is what happened and we are stuck with it.” James Howard Kunstler
The more you think with your critical mind, avoiding your emotions, a toddler tax makes perfect sense. Once again, the Aussies stand head and shoulders over us in common sense and positive actions. Anyone who births more than two children places excessive costs on all the rest of us as to paying for their schooling K-12 at $8,000.00 more per year X’s 13 years X’s each child over two in one family.

When you multiply those extra children, the cost to our society explodes past our health care limits, water limits, air pollution limits, gridlock limits and educational limits.

If you look at what’s driving global warming, it’s simple: too many people burning billions of gallons of gasoline, billions of metric tons of natural gas, billions of tons of coal and God only knows how much wood annually.

How wise to consider a toddler tax while beginning the discussion in Colorado for a “Colorado Carrying Capacity Policy” ; “Colorado Environmental Impact Policy” ; “Colorado Water Policy” and, finally, “Colorado Sustainable Population Policy”. How many people can this state sustain in perpetuity?
Every restaurant features a seating limit. Every pool the same! Every movie theater! For sure, every airplane features an absolute strict seating limit.

Let’s enact proactive laws in Colorado so everyone can enjoy their life experiences living within nature’s carrying capacity. There’s nothing like an idea whose time has arrived!
How wise for Colorado to be the first state in the nation to act responsibly toward the future of our children and our planet home!

What was once considered lunacy, soon becomes legitimate, and then becomes legislated. More irony: it seems reasonable to me that the 'man of lawlessness' will infact be the ultimate legislator, a lawmaker...a bureaucratic beast.

Let's talk about end games for a second. The world system, Babylon, satan...all of these have an imitation of light but all their fakery is only a pretext for something else, some other end game. So also is the fruit of these systems and powers...national policy, evironmentalism, communism ect...all angels of light but with an end game hidden...in plain sight like a Trojan Horse.

Now we concentrate on our own house so much we might forget that not all false prophets are Christian. Are not the humanistic saviors of this world worthy candidates for Jesus' warning? For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-- if that were possible.
Matthew 24:24

The Gospel is true a light, transparent and revealing, without a hidden end game. That is one way we know it is from God. Consider the beatitudes...such purity of heart could never have come from man. This is how we know the Gospel is different then our many pretenders like environmentalism, liberalism, conversatism, humanism, or socialism. God does not hide His agenda behind flowery promises.

God plainly and clearly asks for submission to his government! These other agendas want for themselves the same level of worship that should be reserved for God...but they hide their endgame behind appeals to the flesh's self-interest with worhtless promises of pleasure or freedom or security.

Praise God, this blasphemous endgame will be revealed in God's time.

Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.

Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness...

However bro, we are in the light...

It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians 2

Blessings,

MC

Greetings in Jesus' Name by Whose Blood we are Saved.AMEN.

indeed apart from Jesus we remain in bondage of some form or other, the proverbial velvet handcuffs (or something like that). yet in Jesus we are in bondage to Him but what a sweet bondage it is because the former is death but the latter is Life...in bondage to Life...

toddler tax...wow, you know it seems to make sense with it being "for the environment" and all yet like you said, there is a hidden agenda here which i believe is very sinister as you do. and indeed there are those false prophets who speak of things which tickle our flesh and make "sense" as it were to which people will not object. This whole global warming thing being blamed on mankind i believe is hot hair, granted there is a lot of co2 being produced but it's been hotter before...and another thing which i found interesting, apparently the sun is getting hotter too...

like you said, God don't front because all He brings forth is Perfect and Good, the enemy on the other hand perverts this and so has to make it sweet to the taste...woe unto those among us who have not Loved our Lord so as to Love Truth for He is Truth...Lord if you don't wake those of us who are asleep, we perish...

you said also:

It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

i was meditating on this over the last few days. i remember some people saying that God doesn't force us to Love Him and that we choose to do so.i believe that there is a lack of understanding of our depravity which leads to this idea. unless He Loved us first, we couldn't do so, the Grace to respond in that manner must itself come from Heaven because it is not in our hearts to so Love God. i was shown something by Him yesterday, another aspect of the wickedness of our hearts, so wicked are we that unless He first Loves us, we can't Love Him...unless He gives us Grace to Love Him, we can't Love Him. if it were true that we could Love Him solely of our own volition, there would be other ways to Him...yet there are none, and we know God Love us first because Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners, yes even before the foundation of the world the Lamb was slain!

All Glory to our Lord and God to whom we bend our knees and worship and give thanks.AMEN.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians 2

AMEN.

Grace and Peace are ours in JEsus.AMEN.
