God wants us to fully surrender to Him so His Holy Spirit can flow out of us in the advancement of His kingdom.
John 12:24-25 reads Truly, truly I say to you unless a grain of seed falls into the ground and die it abideth alone but if it dies it brings forth much fruit. He who loves his life will lose it and he who hates his life in this world will keep it.
These are Jesus words. A seed must give up its self existence. It then must be receptive to allow the water to penetrate it for it to grow. Likewise, at the cross Jesus crucifies our limited view and resurrects it to an eternal one.
John 15:5 says He that abideth in Me bringeth forth much fruit for without Me ye can do nothing.
Abiding in Christ enables us to do the things God has called us to with HIS power. It is about having an intimate relationship with Him, experiencing His presence to the extent that He flows out of our earthly vessels. I believe the power of God comes upon us as we die to ourselves. Out of death comes life. Bearing fruit is not optional. It is mandatory in Gods kingdom. As we allow the Lord to cruify us, the old man will die and the fragrant glory of the blossoms of Gods grace in your life will spring forth. Our sin is a stench in the Lords nostrils. He longs to indwell with a pure and holy people.
Luke 24:49 says Behold I send the Promise of My Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.
This verse states that we will be empowered by the Holy Spirit when He comes upon us. God invites us to have abundant life. Adundance being defined as plentifully abounding.
I Corinthians 15:58 says Therefore my beloved brethren be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
In the church there is often busyness without fruitfulness. I pray may this never be in our lives. Gods work must be done in His way and that is why we must humble ourselves before Him. Matthew 16:24 reads If anyone wishes to come after Me let him take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever desires to save His life will lose it but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. He wants to do great things through your life today. Are you willing to surrender your life to the utmost to follow Him? Are you willing to die to self for the sake of the Gospel?
