Devotional: Nehemiah 2:4 “Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the GOD of Heaven.” I have written of this very verse before but I am in need of this reminder. Ere I speak, before my words are cast before another, my prayers should be in proactive mode…seeking HIS response first. Time will continue on whether I seek HIM through prayer at that moment or not. But focused in on CHRIST, my attention will be nowhere else but on hearing from HIM and petitioning HIM with all humility and proper approach. We must pray long enough and be still for extended periods of Time to hear from HIM. We are too busy by intent. Hence, “hearing from GOD” becomes far less likely. The contrast of this devotion is that we CANNOT wait till we’re confronted by the question. Our prayer life must be such that we are asking our GOD of Heaven to supply us with the questions and HIS answers…ahead of Time! Stay then in a mode of somber seeking with all stillness and quiet…till HE speaks! Amen and amen!
Prayer Counsel
And so I prayed to the LORD GOD of Heaven,
requesting HIS sure intervention and wisdom…
to answer this question which had been asked by one who seeks.
Though Time could not have paused nor slowed,
so events ‘round me with each human variable…
continued through muted actions and voiceless speeches.
Therefore, only the heart felt prayer which we shared
(from my soul’s outpouring…desiring attention
to hear JESUS’ response e’er I forwarded my opinion);
occupied the Moment’s window
in full and without a solitary gap
till HIS presence o’erwhelming prostrated this minion.
But there! Oh, t’was there that I then felt HIS voice
as the words of my LORD touched this heart with HIS will!
As such, in unison – Time – once again re-connected
within Reality’s “present”
and those answers HE had given.
So am I able – once more – to reply…as directed.
