Devotional: In Job 39:17 we read that the LORD withholds wisdom from the ostrich and that HE does not impart it to them. Even though the eggs they lay may get trampled on for they do not act as though the life within them is their responsibility! Again, GOD withholds such wisdom from them! How much more imperative it is for us to seek HIM only! To crave HIS wisdom and favor and not the material comforts of this world. Define them however you may…but the end should be our desire to press in and seek HIS face every hour! Not HIS hand…not HIS favor first. No and a thousand times again, no! We beg HIS touch only after our love of HIM draws us so near that HIS reward is the peace and comfort we seek spiritually. Amen and amen.
Selfless Seeking
There is no comfort this world may provide
nor a solace or saave which can tend to the soul.
There is no hope in such things – self created
nor trust in those actions these hands might achieve.
Only CHRIST! Only HIM! Only HE holds my good!
Just the LORD! HIM alone! There is none except CHRIST!
For HIS right and power can withhold that wisdom
which one needs for life…should their choice be this flesh!
How prideful then am I…to think independent!
How errant the thought that my will exceeds HIS!
Hence, touch us, dear LORD…with YOUR imminent grace
and such mercy until all we seek is YOUR face.
