I received this in my email this morning from a brother who preaches the Word long and hard. I wont mention his name or the church. There is several threads going right now that deal with "disunity" and what that means. This is a portion of the email. Here, I think, is the disunity that Paul was talking about:
As of yesterday we know of seven families who have joined our first ever church split. Even one of our Bible school students is gone. Only two of them have spoken with me to give any reason for departure, others will not even return my calls. This is the thanks you get for years of faithful service to men and their families. One couple came into my office yesterday morning ten minutes before the church service and gave me an ultimatum "stop preaching against other religions, denominations and against homosexuals or we are leaving." When I refused to meet their demands I got the standard lecture about not having any love. It is shocking that people could sit in a Bible teaching church for 10 years and make such a demand. It is very painful to be learning that this whole thing was in motion for a long time but I sure did not see it. It's a funny thing, men who rarely or never helped us evangelize can spend hours and hours trying to get others to leave our church.
As distressing as this is for this brother, he is pressing on with God and not compromising. I would ask that everyone be in prayer for this church and for this brother in the Lord.
