JOhn 15:1-2 says in Jesus words, I am the Vine and My Father is the Vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away and every branch that bears fruit He prunes that it may bear more fruit.
The Vinedresser is the One who prepares, loosens and breaks up the soil of our hearts to foster growth. He also prunes or cuts back parts for more fruitful growth. We require Gods pruning in our lives so that we may thrive and contribute to the Kingdom.
Pruning is the practice of removing diseased, nonproductive or otherwise unwanted portions from a plant. In the natural, proper pruning enhances the beauty of almost any landscape while improper pruning can ruin or greatly reduce its landscape potential. Likewise, God in His infinite wisdom will prune us to create something beautiful out of our lives. He does His pruning in such a way as not to destroy us. He knows the exact amount of pruning needed.
The Master Gardener removes all diseased, dead and injured branches and encourages new growth within. This provides a more attractive life, one that shines forth His beauty. Sometimes things happen and more severe pruning is needed to bring our lives within His limits. Even then He carefully works as not to damage us.
Old stems should be removed to the ground level yearly to renew. The Master Gardener wants to renew us on a continual basis so we might have productive, fruitful lives. Pruning helps improve our spiritual condition and makes us to flourish like a tree planted by the waters. Below is a song I like often sung by Bill Gaither.
Something Beautiful
Something Good
All my confusion, He understood
All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife
But He made something beautiful of my life
My Friend,
Submit to His pruning and let Him make something beautiful out of your life today. You won't be disappointed.
