Do you feel forgotten? Do you feel God is not listening or responding to your prayer? Habbakuk did.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 is a hymn of faith. Habakkuk had a crisis of faith. He saw negative circumstances around him and cried out to God asking how long? He probably thought how much more can I take. God is saying to us Trust Me, even when you don't understand. Even when circumstances don't make sense.
Suffering does hurt. People are mistreated. The world is unjust. If you cry out to God I know He will not disappoint you. I have found Him to be faithful.
This portion of Scripture says Though the fig tree may not blossom nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food Though the flock may be cut off from the fold and there be no herds in the stalls- Yet I will rejoice in the Lord I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength. He will make my feet like a deers feet And He will make me walk on my high hills.
I once read a quote that says a heart that never suffers never sings. Our faith will hold us like a rock through our deepest despair. You may feel that God has abandoned you but He is still there my friend. Your answer may not come immediately. There is a song that says He may not come when you want Him but He is always right on time. I am sure many Bible characters felt this way.
When we feel God is silent in our lives we need to live by faith remembering that His grace is sufficient to meet our needs. During periods of time when we feel God is silent we need to continue to praise Him and live by faith. God never promises answers but He promises Himself. He said I will never leave you or forsake you.
In Your Presence, O God
Lynn DeShazo
I want to go where the rivers cannot overflow me
Where my feet are on a rock
I want to hide where the blazing fires cannot burn me
In Your presence, O God
In Your presence that's where I belong
Seeking Your face, touching Your grace
In the cleft of the rock
In Your presence O God
I want to hide where the flood of evil cannot reach me
where I'm covered by Your blood
I want to be where the schemes of darkness cannot touch me
In Your presence, O God
You are my firm foundation
I trust in You all day long
I am Your child and Your servant
And You are my strength and my song
You're my song
