2 Corinthians 12:9 in Jesus words says My grace is made sufficient for you for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities that the power of God may rest upon me.
Paul goes on to say that He takes pleasure in his weaknesses. The word pleasure here means to desire, to think good, to be well pleased in our trials. In Pauls weaknesses Christs power was made more apparent to others. This is not a popular concept. We want to do things in our strength to feel self sufficient and not of need of anything.
We try to hide our weaknesses. We don't like to come to an end of our own strength. God is allowing in our lives that which brings Him Glory. If you've read some of my postings you know I've faced several illnesses that I am still recovering from. I have cried out to God for His power to be manifest through me for ministry purposes. I have recently seen His power is being manifesed through my weakness. He told me that out of my brokenness and vulnerability that He would minister. We need to be transparent before people. God is also showing me that if I don't allow my weakness to be hidden that He will do greater things. God is blessing me through my weaknesses.
When it is only God we can depend on because we are depleted He gets more glory. He likes it that way. The Bible says in Isaiah 48:10-11 Behold I have refined you but not as silver I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For My own sake I will do it. For how should my name be profaned? And I will not give my glory to another.
I will now share some thoughts I read of C.H. Spurgeons. He said when a man marches forth in his own might and declares that his own right arm and his own doings will get me the victory, then defeat is not far distant. God will not go forth with a man in his own strength. We MUST serve the Lord in the way HE shows us and in His stength. He won't accept less.
He wants to be the Master of us, His servants lives. We must be obedient. That which man does unaided by divine strength God can never own. God will empty out all that we have before He will put His own into us. He will first clean out our graneries before He will fill them with the finest of wheat.
There must be a consciousness of weakness before the Lord will give you victory. Your emptiness is but the preparation of your being filled and your casting down is but the making ready for your lifting up.
Are you mourning over some form of weakness in your life? Be encouraged my friend. Do not despise your weakness for that is where His strength is made perfect. Allow God to break you as you submit to various circumstances for He does this for our good and His glory.
