Time magazines "Person of the Year"

Vladamir Putin has been crowned Time Magazine's "Person of the Year"....

I've said it all along since I was saved in the 1990's that even tho the Soviet Union "collapsed", thanx the Ronald Reagan, Russia will still be a force to be reckoned with. It has to be because scripture is clear that Russia plays a major role in end time prophecy.

Has anyone other than me noticed that Russia seems to be asserting itself more and more recently...?

Something for us to keep and eye on.

from what i understand, mr. putin has a genius IQ, speaks a bunch of languages, and is far smarter than our head of state and any member of Congress. you are right in that we need to keep an eye on what goes on there.

they are not hampered by U.S. style democracy and anytime we point out that Russian "democracy" isn't at all democratic, Putin brings up the electoral college, in all its antidemocratic glory. (why we have this is beyond me)

i'm not sure that Russia, China or any other country can be specifically identified from Scripture as having a role in end time prophecy. can you recommend a passage, verse, etc. for me that substantiates this?

While there is no disagreement in Putin's IQ... a lot of what you stated as fact in your paragraph is mere speculation concerning people in our government. Not saying you're wrong, just that generalizations like this dont really help you out when making a point.

I understand what you're saying, and franly I dont care what other countries think of our system of government. As to the question of the "electoral college", there are very specific reasons why we have it. If you want to understand why, then I would recommend that you read the writings of our founding fathers.

By the way... we are not a Democracy, we are a Republic. A democracy will soon decay into "mob rule"... which is why our founding fathers made this a republic... and until one gains an understanding of that, and what they envisioned, one will never understand why we have such institutions as the "electoral college".

Personally, I think it's a good thing. And not because Bush won. If it ever goes the other direction, and someone gets in because of the "electoral college" that I didnt vote for I will still agree with it as an institution. Unlike most liberals, I dont throw out our institutions when things go in a direction I dont like. Kinda like free speech. Most liberals claim to be all for free speech... until it's speech they dont like. Thats why it's ok to have adult bookstores right in the middle of town, but nativity scenes are illegal.

Many theologians believe that "Meshech" (mentioned in Revelation) is a Hebrew form of Moscow, and that "Tubal" (also mentioned in Revelation) represents the Siberian capital Tobolsk. There are some that are non-committal about that... but Revelation also uses the image of a "bear" when describing a warring faction in Revelation. For as long as I can remember Russia's national symbol has been a bear. A mighty nation is described as descending on Israel from the north. I think if you look at the allies Russia is making in the middle east (mainly with enemies of Israel) you dont have to be much of an theologian to draw some correct conclusions about who scripture is referring to.
