Coming from a heart of love for Him and knowing He has our best interest at heart we should willingly comply to what He requests. Obedience is not an option for the child of God. Obedience is a soldier quality. It is his first and his last lesson. One he must learn to practice all the time without question or complaint.
Obeidence is the very test of our love for God. Abraham as he offered Isaac is a wonderful example of this. He didn't ask questions. He didn't ask why. He just got up and went. God doesn't call us to half hearted obedience or an obedience that picks and chooses what the flesh likes.
We need to follow after the Lord wholeheartedly saying Yes LORD Yes to YOUR will and to YOUR way. There is no room for compromise in this. We too often accept the parts of the Bible we like and follow them and leave the rest.
We need to have steps quick to follow what He commands. He has proven Himslef trustworthy many many times. When we put our thinking above Gods it becomes a dangerous self centered man centered view of religion. It is far from the obedience the Scipture tells us and that God requires from us. It is either His way or our way.
I pray that we learn to submit to His way because it is ALWAYS the best way. We can't be looking for the back door to escape when our flesh doesn't like the things He is requiring of us. We need to line our thinking up with what God says.
JIm Elliot said rest in this- it is His business to lead, command, impel, send, call or whatever you want to call it. It is our business to obey, follow, move, respond or what have you.
Elisabeth Elliot said I really don't think you are in a bargaining position with God. He is the Commanding Officer. It is not for you to have input. It is simply for you to accept the orders as the orders are given.
Prayer: Lord, we come to you again today offering ourselves as a living sacrifice. We want to be wholly obedient to You. We recognize You as Lord of our lives. We choose to obey because we love You. May our steps be quick to respond to Your commands. May we agree with what you say Lord and line ourselves up with Your holy word. In the name of Jesus. Amen
