Below is Ezekiel 14:1-11
I am trying to find out about this... I have friends and I included have gone to prophets to get words about our lives or possible ministry.
I know people who I will call word addicts.
I would go to certain services where you could always get prayed for and get a "word" from the "Lord".
I after a time started getting uncomfortable with the whole thing and was thinking that maybe I should be inquireing of the Lord myself.
I know people who are actively trying to get into a ministry of being Word givers.
or prophets and they have seminars for learning how to become this... There is one in January in my town.
I read this scripture Ezekiel 14
And it has conscerned me to the point that I have refused to seek out a prophet. Yet I have been praying and asking the Lord to get word to me concerning some important things in my life, and my son's life and future.
I need to find out what this scripture actually means, so I can inquire of the Lord, through someone else, or myself and get an answer.
Maybe I got a check in my spirit at some meetings was because I felt that, some were using the Lord as a fortune teller, maybe not consiously. But was definately made common.
Please dont be offended, if you function in the prophetic, or Word's of knowledge. Im just trying to seek out what is the balance in all this.
Any ideas or imput..
thanks.
Ezekiel 14
King James Standard Version 1901
1 Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me. Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.
2 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?
4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Every man of the house of Israel that taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Jehovah will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols;
5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Return ye, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: For every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that separateth himself from me, and taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet to inquire for himself of me; I Jehovah will answer him by myself:
8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. And if the prophet be deceived and speak a word, I, Jehovah, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him; And they shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him that seeketh [unto him];
11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.
