A Baby born in Bethlehem
Laid in a manger filled with straw
Surrounded by beasts of the field
Hardly a sight inspiring awe
Yet heaven opened, angels sang
As God announced His greatest news
And gave good tidings of great joy
A Savior this day born to you
Glory to God the angels sang
Peace on earth goodwill toward men
For in the manger lies the One
In Whom all hope of peace begins
Christ has visited His people
Wrapped in a cloak of flesh and blood
Divinity so condescends
To walk this earth as one of us
This Christ born in humility
Laid in a manger made of wood
Would lay upon a wooden cross
To redeem us by His blood
The perfect plan of God revealed
To redeem us sinful men
And bring us back into a place
Of fellowship with Him again
