Christmas Cards

The holidays are almost over, and if you are like many, you have received lots of nice Christmas cards. You admire them and wonder what to do with them. To keep them takes up needed room, so you may pitch them into the garbage. Or, you may keep them for the time being because they are too nice to discard. But with time, they may find themselves in the garbage.

Now I would like to challenge those who wonder what to do with them. Or, perhaps there are others on this forum that have found new uses for them. These ideas I would love to hear.

In November the LORD led me to recycle our old cards. Using scrapbooking principles, I made new cards out of the old. The end result was a very original card, and more beautiful then the ones I cut up. These cards were shared with the male inmates at a state prison our church brethren minister to monthly. The chaplain loved them!

Just thought I would share this - there may be someone out there that needs a shove in this direction. If someone else has creative uses for them I woud love to hear it!

Blessings,

I have a friend who uses craft scissors which cut in a patterned edge, to select the part of the pictures which can be turned into gift tags.

All they keep are the gift tags for next year. Of course, make sure to keep all the information you need from the part of the card you're dumping.

Neat idea, dorcas.

I am still reluctant to use the most beautiful ones given to me by my children or husband. But the reality is once I am gone, what will happen with them? I cannot imagine any of our boys would be interested in them. I did use one and that tugged on my heartstrings but lying in a drawer benefits no one either.

Thanks for the suggestion, dorcas.

I'm not very crafty, but I like the idea. Since this has nothing to do with breaking down a wall, fixing a leaking toliet or climbing on the roof, I am going to give this to the creative one in my home. :-)

Yes, I know this thread would not interest males personally, but it is THEIR job to be encouragers to the females that live under their roof! Sounds like you are doing a good job, Miccah. God bless you!
