I can't stop weeping.

S
SimpleLiving Jan 12, 2008

I don't know what's going on inside me. I'm in this perpetual state of weeping and mourning. At this very moment, I'm sitting here, in tears, crying over things I've never even thought about before!

I don't know how to explain it but I feel like I'm weeping for America and how lost it is. I think about the majority of pastors and evangelists that permeate the airwaves with their fan clubs of followers who are blind and being lead astray. I think about the money used to buy mansions and airplanes and Rolls Royces and Rolexes and my heart is aching because those things are not exaggerations but the very things these supposed men and women of God are using His money for!

God's Word and His commandments are being watered down and twisted into mere suggestions that don't need to be obeyed if they offend anyone or make them feel bad or unhappy. They preach a gospel of comfort and riches and the people accept it, knowing it's wrong! To them it's like a lie that, when told often enough, begins to sound like truth because enough people are believing it!

Entertainment and convenience and comfort all at the touch of a button. More, bigger, better, more, faster, flashier, more! Instant gratification is expected! So much so that microwaves are considered slow by today's standards and if we have to wait in line longer than a minute, we become indignant at someone else's thoughtless abuse of our time! "Move faster! Open more lanes! You're wasting my valuable time!" And make it all smaller and more compact so we can carry more of it around with us and pile more of it up in our over-sized homes! Other people, and God, have merely become a means to and end; but we don't realize it's going to be our own end!

Political correctness hasn't ensured the fair inclusion of everyone and their beliefs, it's outlawed the mention of God and given people the right to decide right and wrong for themselves. We outlaw God and then wonder where He is, and blame Him, for tragedies! People pick and choose what they like from the gospels as if choosing from a menu at a restaurant and disregard the rest because they don't want to eat it! Then they claim to be Christians when it never was God they believed in but themselves!

Jesus, the cross and salvation are being treated like an inappropriate children's fairy. Curse words are more acceptable than His holy name! The Father and Creator of absolutely everything, who, with one flare of His nostril, could obliterate all men for their wickedness at any time, is being used like an inanimate, abused, vending machine that today's church has rigged to give it's rewards at the push of a button, without having to pay the price! He's being treated as if He owes us! How long is He expected to endure this hatred and disrespect?

Where is the respect, honor, reverence, fear, worship and adoration that He's due? Can't people see that they're being given over to their greed, lusts and desires? Can they be so blind that they don't believe there's a price to be paid?

Oh, God, please forgive us. We are ignorant, selfish and drowning in our own sin! I am drowning in my own sin! Father I need Your mercy and Your forgiveness!

Hi SimpleLiving...

Thank you for sharing your cry. It is a good thing to be so jealous for the honor of God in a world that has largely forgotten or maligned His Name.

But that is why this website exists. There is still hope for America and the world. We are praying a next "Great Awakening" in which men and women will realize all that you have stated. They will recognize their condition, recognize the heart of God, and realize that the status quo of most of today's "churches" do not reflect that heart. We need a true revival of such hunger and honor for God in each and every one of us!

Be encourage, brother Keith! If God did not neglect Hagar or Hannah when they cried out, God will not neglect our cry that He would move in us and in our land.

I am so happy that your weeping. I remember only a couple of times of this uncontrollable weeping. It just comes upon you without any provocation. But something is going on in the Spirit. Whatever you do, don't try to stop.

Jeremiah 9:1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
What a prayer, what a prayer.

Brother Mike, do you really think there is hope for the world? That the world will ever change? That it wants to change? In these last days.

John 14:16-17
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."

The world cannot receive the Spirit of truth. They are so blind that they can never know their true condition. What is there in the world--its wisdom, its morality, its customs, its religion--which may lead them to the Father?

John 10:25-29
"Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."

It is for the lost sheep of the house of Israel that the Lord Jesus came... for the sheep that had gone astray... for the sheep that would recognize His voice and would not follow after another. It is those that He came to call and save. The world will not repent. It will mourn at the Lord's return. But it will not repent. We shouldn't despair when we see how the world rejects God, lest we have put too much trust in the people of the world, even in our own selves. Our sole hope should be in God.

Is America going to stand? Or Europe? Or any worldly kingdom for that matter? All of which are under the sway of the evil one. Are they going to turn to God and acknowledge His reign? Should such expectation be our source of hope and inspiration?

The Lord Jesus came to bring His kingdom--a kingdom "which cometh not with observation" (Luke 17:20). His kingdom is not of this world, and neither are we. He is not planning and He will not "restore the kingdom to America"--but will rather shake all things than can be shaken, so that only that one "kingdom which cannot be shaken" may remain.

The world grieves me, too. The lost souls, the horror of those who are perishing. But let us not limit God to how many He is going to save--or what percentage of Americans are going to turn to Him in some form of revival. Let us not try to contain the heavenly glory of the Lord in human measures. But, instead, let us "seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God" (Col. 3:1). And if God so wills, He will save as many as call upon Him.

It is not another "Great Awakening" that we should be after, in spite of the thrill of seeing people come to know the only true Lord; rather we should first be zealous for the glory not of men, but of God.

Hi NotMe...

Actually, I was the one who wrote that (not Mike). I will try to explain my comments (since a couple of people have read far too much into them).

America is a nation made up of people. I am one of those people. The people of my Church are some of those people. My town consists of some of those people. I am praying for the people of my family, my Church, my town and the nation within which I dwell. I am praying for a GREAT AWAKENING in which men and women, boys and girls are collectively and personally shaken and realize the condition of their souls.

I don't mean that there is "hope" that America will become a greater nation. There is a hope for the people of America that transcends life itself! There is a God, and He longs to know and fellowship with each of us. He loved us so much as to provide a way of escape from the stain and penalty of sin and death. A revival is a sudden awakening. It is my prayer that a sudden, personal "great awakening" take place within each person, within each local Church, within each town, within each school, within each state, within each nation. It is my prayer that this awakening realization will cause men to prefer the things of God above the things of this world -- a desire for God above anything that this world would afford us.

This is the hope of America. This is the hope of the Church.

In the end, we know that the world is still ultimately heading down the path that is specified in the Word of God. But it is my prayer that, if just for a time, a person, a family, a congregation, a town, a city, a state, and even a nation can turn to Christ. While a government of a nation itself will probably never fully turn to God, the people that make of that nation can. I have read stories in which entire islands, towns and regions have turned to Christ. Is it still possible? I pray that it is.

I don't know what's going on inside me

Perhaps…growing pains.

I can only speak for myself. At times when I have a “drawing nearer” to Him experience I not only gain more peace and understanding, but also more of a burden. Strange how my sorrow and burden grow…yet I enter deeper into His rest.

Grace and peace

Isn't this the big test of whether a person has begun to understand that God is greater, and should worship Him anyway? And it is also a test of determination to see Him as the God, the Creator (as you said) and to acknowledge His holiness.

Thank you, NotMe...

a kingdom "which cometh not with observation" (Luke 17:20).
This ministered to my spirit, particularly. Amen.
