Has anyone read the book Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola? If so, what are your thoughts on it? George Barna, well know in America for giving statistics in the church, gave the foreward to the book. www.ptmin.org

Has anyone read the book Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola?
good book. it opened my eyes alot as to why we do the things we do in church in america. i was kinda astonished that i have never heard that kind of stuff before.

that being said, a word of caution is to read something like this and keep it in prayer. it is easy to read a book such as this and develop a "superior kind of attitude" toward those who still attend an institutional church. but if read in humility, i believe that it is a good book to explain certain answers to those "why do we do that at church?" questions that we all have sometimes.

i hope that helps,
phil

There is lots of controversy over the book. I haven't read it yet. I've only read an excerpt of it on the website. I hope to read it soon

Religion loves to stand on ceremony, clings to
tradition. Man loves to build and organize
institutions. The Body of Christ, the true
Church is none of these. It was meant to be
a dynamic, living, thriving community of
believers joined in the cause of the gospel and
in the bond of the Holy Spirit!!
