well i had a talk with a guy about baptism and in acts people get the holy spirit before getting baptized and the theif went to heaven before getting baptized. some guy told me we have to be baptized to go to heaven but he said those were special casese. he said that in acts they got the holy spirit to confirm to peter that they could also get the spirit. in other words he said it was for peters conversion. but i said well that means that god changed his mind and that hes not staying in order with how things should be....but i need help with scripture about that thank you

Scripture teaches us that God is in control and does whatever He wants to do, whenever he wants to do it. In the Book of Acts, some believers received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit before being baptized with water. At other times, they receive it after being baptized with water.Paul only water baptized a "few".

God is in control, and as much as you and I would like to do so, we can not put Him in a box to try and figure Him out. I recently heard a true story of a Muslim, who went to sleep as a militant Islamic Terrorist. In the middle of the night he had a vision that changed his life forever. In the vision, he saw Jesus Christ nailed onto the cross at calvary. The militant was then raised up so that he looked right into the eyes of Jesus, and those eyes were like lazer beams that shot right through him. He found himself crying and convicted of his own sin, and as he looked back into the face of Jesus,Jesus said to him--"I did this for you". He came out of that vision as a radical, born again Christian believer. Today, he shares his story with whoever the Holy Spirit sends his way, risking his life winning muslims to Christ by sharing his story with them! His story is nothing more than the Gospel- Christ came to die for the sins and the sinners of the World, for all those that will believe.
