I have been studying Matthew 20:29-34 this week for a sermon I am preaching sunday, and as I have been reading this text it has become apparant to me that I do not rely enough on the mercy of Christ.
For some reason in the christian life we sometimes forget that it is only by the Mercies of God that we are saved. As I look at these two blind men who have nothing to offer who everyone else despised and tells to shut up I get a picture of me. I am reminded that I too have nothing to offer and no way of demanding Christ do anything for me. Sometimes I forget this and think that somehow if I have walked just right for a couple of days then He surely will hear me.
It is those times when my sin has become completley visible though that I cry out for mercy and truly commune with God. It is when I remember that I too am nothing more than a blind beggar on the side of the road that God can truly use me.
Anyway I know that this is somewhat of an incomplete statement, just wondering if anyone else ever feels this way.
