Freedom from religion in Britain is becoming as important as freedom of religion, according to a United Nations investigation into religion in the UK.

In a 23-page report published this evening, a UN rapporteur claims the 2001 Census findings that nearly 72 per cent of the population is Christian can no longer be regarded as accurate. The report claims that two-thirds of British people now do not admit to any religious adherence.

The report also calls for the disestablishment of the Church of England. The role and privileges of the established Church are challenged because they do not reflect “the religious demography of the country and the rising proportion of other Christian denominations.” ...

So what will fill that vacuum? Islam? A few years ago I read where the Muslims aim to make Britain a Muslim country in five years. I told Dad this and his observation - when he visited there - was that this sounds like a real possibility because of the number of Arabs he saw.

What do you Brits say?

We say they can try but we will fight them all the way!!

In England we have it from all circles the witchcraft society has suppose to have the most converts from harry potter.

We have it from the christian circles with the emergant church, and the inner side.
The Anglican Church with Rowan Williams.

Then we have Hollywood which is another attack on our faith.

We have attacks on our faith constantly!!!

The problem is if they ever take out our country America will be next and the Muslims have the same like for you as they do us!!

Religious adherence is not necessarily "saving
faith." If the Church is not professing and
preaching gospel truth, it is not surprizing
that it misses its purpose and mission as the
Body of Christ!!

Britain, in many ways, is a Post Christian society in decline. The rise and fall of empires is well documented, and when you think how far Britian has "fallen," in the last sixty years, America should beware.

I believe that the reason the Lord is going to bring about a Reformation in Britain and in America is rooted in the Scripture "For God so loved the world." He loves the world so much that He will regenerate His ailing church that they may be, once again, a city set on a hill, a light to the world. We must also remember and believe that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Against what? Against the truth that Peter recognized that Jesus was the Christ. It is this Truth that will revive the Church one more time. The Truth of Jesus. As He is raised up then all men shall be drawn to Him.

We, as Christians need to be sold out to and fully immersed in that "Truth," that Jesus is the way , the truth and the life and that no man comes to the Father but though Him. When the small burning embers of the faith in Britain encounters the wind of the Holy Spirit, they will ignite into flames and once again men and woman who dwell in the darkness of life will be drawn to the light. Its coming brothers and sisters, not because we as His people deserve it, because we do not, but because He loves us and the world so much that He is willing to pour out His grace (unmerited favor)one more time.

I wish our church in this land would wake up!!
It is too busy watching films and dvd on how to?
Rather than doing.
This country is the home of the alpha course and is course crazy.

You mean "ever learning and never coming to the truth?" This describes the USA perfectly. In addition to this "everyone owes me their living" so I will sue you ...another form of robbery legalized by the system called government...a form of greed or covetousness. Our government is working hard to legalize all forms sins and perversion. Certain forms of murder is legal, as is covetousness, sodomy, adultery. Rape is still punishable but who knows how long that will be so...lawlessness is on the march with the blessings of the courts. The courts set the perimeters in which one can rightly sin and be protected by any retribution. But they did not reckon with God or nature, praise the LORD!

And by the way Britain was just rocked by a 5+ scaled earthquake, Pure and undefiled religion is a needed badly, how long shall we escape here in America at least grand proportions of catastrophy?

I'm not quite sure what "the church in Britain" or "the American church" is. The Body of Christ hasn't gone anywhere.

This type of language is used in scripture.

Rev 2 ..the church in Smyrna ......the church in Pergamos...the church in Thyatira...the church in Sardis.. ect..

Hi ginnyrose,

I have heard the inventor of the Alpha course, interviewed, and he is very clear who Jesus Christ is, what the gospel, and that people need to be saved. But, such is the depth of Christianity in some congregations, that the new converts are more on fire for God than the rest, and there has been another course designed to take them on - like ~~[i]~~discipling[/i] would do. It's not all bad! But, there are people who walk away from the Alpha course, unconvinced.

On another point, you said this about changes at governmental level, which affect the ordinary citizen:

This made me wonder if you've been following Annie's thread The Emerging Merger, or have heard of the changes made in US Federal law recently. The only place I know to find the changes is the site called 'www.stoptheNorthAmericanUnion.com', but probably as an American, you might be able to find out more, locally. It's difficult from here to judge if these two changes really are (effectively) 'treason' against y'all. I'd be interested in your mature opinion.
