HELP!!! I need a Spanish translator! -For Tracts

sermonindex Mar 7, 2008

Greetings in the name of Jesus!

I am in need of a translator to translate a few tracts we have written from English to Spanish. They are short (half-page, front and back) and we are getting 7000 printed up for distribution here in Mexico.

If anybody could help to translate a tract, that would help us a lot. Here is the text from one of the tracts that need translating:

-----------------

CATHOLICISM: THE ONE TRUE CHURCH?
What does the Bible really say about the practices of the Catholic Church?

1: The Bible says that the Catholic Church commits idolatry: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them” -Exo 20:4-5. The Catholic Religion worships Mary and creates idols by making statues of dead saints, and even worships them!
2: The Bible says: By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast -Eph 2:8-9. The Catholic Church to this day still teaches that we are saved by works and good deeds, not by grace through faith alone. In the book of Galatians in the Bible, St. Paul called the teaching of salvation by works “another gospel” and said that such people are “Anethema”, which means cursed.
3. Jesus said, Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven -Mat 23:9. The Catholic Church commands its people to call its priests “father” when God alone is the spiritual Father of all true Christians, stealing glory belonging to God alone. They are directly disobeying the commandment of Jesus for the Church!
4. The Bible says that Jesus came to earth and humbled Himself, but the Pope exalts himself. Jesus washed His disciples feet, but the Pope’s disciples kiss his feet! Jesus was the servant of all, but the Pope is the king of all, sitting upon a throne over the nations! Jesus loved and blessed his enemies, but through history, the Popes have repeatedly killed their enemies with the sword!
5. The Bible says: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus -1Ti 2:5. However, the Catholic Church teaches that there are many mediators between God and man, such as Mary, and dead saints. How can Jesus AND Mary both be Mediators between God and man when the Bible says there is only ONE Mediator? Again, the Bible condemns the practice of the Catholic religion when Jesus said: Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men -Mar 7:7-8. Even though Jesus’ words are so clear, the Catholic Church teaches that their traditions have more authority than God’s word in the Bible! Don’t follow the traditions of men… they lead to certain death! (Pro 14:12)
Have you been worshipping God in vain? The Bible teaches that all men are born sinners, and are sinners both by nature and by choice. This means YOU are a sinner. You have broken God’s Law. The Bible says that no liar, thief, drunkard, fornicator (sex outside of marriage), adulterer (including looking at somebody with lust), idolater, greedy person, anybody who hates somebody or holds unforgiveness toward anybody, or unbeliever; none of these people will inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:9-10, Rev 21:8). This mean that if you are such a person, you will perish under the wrath of God in Hell. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, died on the Cross, and rose again three days later. He took the punishment that you deserve upon Himself and paid for sin with His blood. It’s not enough just to confess your sin to a priest or partake of the sacraments.
Jesus said, “You must be born again” if you want to enter Heaven (Joh 3:3). Have you been born again and received a new heart from God? The Bible says you have to REPENT and BELIEVE in the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. This means you have to turn from your sin and believe in Jesus with all your heart, giving Him your life to serve Him as your Master forever. There is no salvation in the Catholic Church, salvation is only found in Christ alone. He is alive! He’s not dead and hanging on the wall! He lives! And He is all-powerful and will set you free from sin and transform your entire life by the power of God! The burden of sin that weighs heavy upon you, the one that religion and Catholicism could never free you from, the Lord Jesus can set you FREE and you can have peace with God, being declared righteous by FAITH.

Hi Josef...

My wife has offered to help you as well. She was born in Mexico, but moved to the United States during the 5th grade. She currently teaches Spanish at a public high school, but has also taught at the University level.

If you would like her help (for the translation or editing process of your tracts), please let me know! She will be off this week (Spring Break), and she has plenty of time to gladly help!

:-)

I've been trying to learn Spanish for a little while. I don't have much of a vocabulary right now, but I'm learning every day. I was wondering if someone wanted to be a "penpal." I would like to be able to become fluent. I know there are all kinds of websites where you can find penpals but I would prefer to speak with a Christian. One of the main reasons I want to learn Spanish is to be able to communicate Christian truth to the Spanish speaking community. I figure a Christian could help me do that better than someone who isn't.

I thought about starting a new thread, but I would rather just piggy-back off this one. :-)

If anyone is interested, please let me know.

PS. By penpal I'm really just meaning e-mail. I guess that's an epal..

Hi Preach...!

My wife was born in Mexico and she speaks fluent Spanish and English. In fact, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education and a Master's Degree in Spanish (along with an undergraduate minor in Math and a graduate minor in Technology).

My spanish isn't perfect yet, but it is fluent enough to survive and get back to the United States if I were to have accidentally parachuted in Central America. I also know enough to reason with individuals, as well as point to Scriptures in Spanish translations of the Bible.

During my four Spanish classes as an undergrad, I relied heavily upon the free "Babelfish" online program. It isn't perfect, but it does help. I also recommend the Rosetta Stone language software. It is just a little expensive, but it really works. My uncle now speaks quite fluently in Spanish after using the software. They will send you a FREE sample disk upon request so that you can try it out.

If you would still like a penpal, let me know! While I may not be completely fluent, my wife would certainly help with my responses.

:-)

I've been using a course from this website: http://www.spanishprograms.com/

I had 4 semesters of Spanish in high school, but I don't think I learned a thing. I'll send you a PM.

Josef, is there no one at Grace in San Antonio or who is currently apart of the mission down there who can translate for this tract?
