Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Matthew 6:27 (NIV)
William Inge said, "Worry is interest paid on trouble before it's due." Another writer said "Worry is wasting today's time to clutter up tomorrow's opportunities with yesterdays troubles."
When we worry, not only are we sinning against God by failing to trust in His faithfulness and His promises, but we are engaging in an entirely unfruitful activity. Worrying won't do anything to increase our lifespan or our stature, as our Lord Jesus said.
A Christian who worries is a living contradiction. Let that not be us, starting today. Let's decide together not to waste our precious time on earth time worrying, but to be concerned about doing our Father's will. Amen.
