Leonard Ravenhill speaks about the founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth. He explains about the conviction of God that comes under the preaching of this man. The value of the human soul is worth more then all the money and riches in the world. Men of old labored to save souls just as the master Jesus did.

Oh what anointing and how focused these men of old were on eternity. May it be our portion also.

Powerful.

These men had a reckless abandon for Jesus Christ and cared not the cost that their committment might bring forth. They were anointed and burning for God, for souls, and for eternity.

If a preacher is going to preach effectively on eternity, he must already be preaching ~~[i]~~from[/i] eternity. He must already have entered by a reckoning death in Christ and henceforth proclaim both the terror and glory from a life of resurrection. When we fall short of this standard we get sterile programs, 12-steps, platitudinous sermons, rhetoric, unctionless substitutions that kill rather than give life.

What a price it is to enter in and minister from the death and resurrection in Christ! These old saints knew what they were saying, how it takes God 20 or so years to make an effective preacher. 20 years of breaking, melting, molding, shaping, hammering. It takes man about an hour to cremate a physical body in a flame of fire at 1600+ degrees farenheit; it takes God years and years to cremate a spirit (that is, to reduce it to the lowest possible denominator where it can be used) - and I would wager the process is more painful.

The price for preaching eternity ~~[i]~~from[/i] eternity! God, give it to all who ask.

These men such as the likes of L Ravenhill, AW Tozer, etc... were men and women just like us, they were the FLESH.....We are also men and women of like passion.

SO should we all have such reckless abandonment as they did, they had what PAul, peter, and the other apostles had. They had RECKless abandonment, they had love for Jesus and a hatred(to love less, latin or greek meaning) for the world!
