Goodbye to my Sermon Index friends

sermonindex Apr 2, 2008

I feel the Lord would have me close my Sermon Index account at this time. If a moderator could do so for me that would be great.

I wanted to thank all of the true brethren on this forum that have had a word to challenge or encourage me in my walk with Christ over the past year and a half. For the brothers and sisters that have been chatting with me through PM about doing street ministry, homeless ministry, coming out of the institutional system, or other blessed things that our awesome King has placed in your heart please stay in touch by email: repent_trust at yahoo.com

And he said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy." "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. ~Revelation 22:10-17 esv

I figure a proper goodbye on this forum should include a Leonard Ravenhill quote also:

"I doubt that more than two percent of professing Christians in the United States are truly born again."

Are you among the two percent?

In Christ-

Jim

Keep the faith brother. Have a heart of no compromise when it comes to the Truth.

2 Timothy 4:1-8 (NKJV)

Preach the Word

"I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

Paul’s Valedictory

"For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

Blessings brother.

Ravenhill said

"I doubt that more than two percent of professing Christians in the United States are truly born again."
When Israel was being burdened down by the Midianites during Gideons day one could say the same as the quote above. But Israel who was caught up in her self was still the children of God and still belonged to God. The Church of Jesus Christ, the called out ones are many in the United States more than just 2%. Elijah thought that he was the only one, but God said that He had reserved 7000 men who hadn't bowed the knee to Baal. Only God knows who are His and many of us are not doing anything, but we are here and we have not bowed the knee to Baal. We are waiting on the LORD, not moving ahead of Him, but just waiting on the LORD.

Is Martha the only test of a true Christian, busy busy busy? Mary found the best part, sitting at the feet of Jesus taking in every word that He has to say. The work will get done, but in His time, not Martha's time. There is a time to prepare the workers for the harvest. They have to know how to cut the grain and to do it right.

Gideon was called to such a time as this in his day. God had prepared him, gave him a boldness under the cover of darkness to winnow the wheat. Yes the Church looks like it's dead, but it's seeking God under the cover of darkness, where God dwelleth. We are constantly in a storm in our souls, we are being tried and tested.

From my estimation there is no one that is truly standing for the truth of God's word in this city. BUT I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I KNOW, that God has reserved for Himself an innumeral company of believers, not just in this city but all over North America and the world.

God Bless

I didn't get to know you to well, being a new-be, but I liked what Ravenhill said about 2% real Christians in America.

I went to china in 07', summer, and in conversing with Chinese believers, or seekers, the subject came up concerning the number of Christians living in America. 80% they cheerfully guessed. [they love America....shang ra-la with golden streets and automobiles for all!] No, and cutting to the chase, I said about 2% of americans were true Christians.

I had no idea that Ravenhill also agreed. Needless to say, they were shocked, or just thought I had a mental problem. Real Christians are Christ like, not necessarily just born again. 2ndly, web sites promote personas, which , believe it or not, are not necessarily the real person they project.

I wish you the best to endure the pressures coming, and bear a loving heart to your Master in the days to come. Semper Fidelus is our King. Tom

Will go against the grain here and ask if you are sure this is the Lord and that you might reconsider brother.

Still recall Philologo's mention one day, taking note of your member name under the log on section that has the time counters;

;-)

Either way brother ... no need to be a stranger.

Dear brother, if this has anything to do with the recent altercation that transpired here a few days ago...please do reconsider your decision to leave.

I've learnt a long time ago to not make these types of decisions when upset; the same principle can be applied to going grocery shopping when hungry. You'll buy stuff, you'll get things you really don't need. Brother, you don't need to delete your account, and there is a remnant here that loves you and appreciates much of your zeal.

Do reconsider, do spend some time in contemplation. God bless you, Jim.

Do reconsider

I'll agree with Mike and Paul here. I think your desire to break fellowship here is unfortunate. I'll be honest and say that I don't always see things the way you do...and perhaps that's the best reason for you to stay. You may need to take a break, but perhaps you don't need to break away.

Jim... you and I have butted heads a few times, but I am a better man for it. You have been an encouragement and a challenge to me, and I hate to see you go.

I appreciate that a while back we were able to find common ground on which we could stand together. I think we have a lot more common ground than we think we do.

Love ya bro... and SI is an addiction. You will be back. ;-)

I guess because I haven't been around a lot lately, I did not get the opportunity to know Jim, but it looks like he has a lot of friends here. Jim if this is what God is telling you to do my advise is move on and don't look back, if God is telling you to make this move it may take a while before he shows you why, but as always God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) I am sure you are one of the called.
