hello everyone this is my first time on this message board.

I am currently watching "The Call" on GodTv. Has anyone seen this garbage? I've been watching all day and not once have they explained the gospel. It seems to be just a bunch of noise.

randomness....

Ok... now they have kids on stage with red tape over their mouths that say LIFE on it. I guess this will end abortion. No need to pray about it any more.

I heard Lou Engle say "I heard from the Lord and we should make arm bands that say LIFE on it and it will begin a movement like Martin Luther King did"

Please get the message out about these people.

Welcome to the SI formus FixIt, I hope you will take advantage of the many articles and sermons to be found here...a real gold mine.

Also, now that you have told us about what you don't like, perhaps you could tell us a little about yourself and what you do like. :-D

In Christ,

Ron

In regards to the call...I've been to two calls, you're completely wrong about it :) We prayed and worshiped for 12 hours actually, probably much more than you have ever in a day :) though I don't know that for sure.
The red LIFE tape is a way they intercede for the unborn, identifying with their silent cries for justice. The point is to pray silently while its on your mouth and send a message to the powers of darkness, that is, life.
The life bands (I am wearing one now) are simply red bands that you wear that help remind you to pray everyday for the ending of abortion and ask God to send revival to America.
Did you know all who attended are supposed to fast before and during the call? You are so missing the point if you think for a second its a bunch of noise. The Gospel was in fact presented (I WAS THERE IN DC MIND YOU) by a preacher near the beginning, but the gathering was for believers to come and pray, not for the unsaved and lost.

It was a call to pray for the nation to turn back to God, so yes, please get the word out about these guys. They are actually mobilizing people to pray.

Did you watch the same Call that I did? I certainly wouldn't call this gathering of thousands of young people who were crying out to God for our nation garbage. It might be noise to you, but it is not noise to the Lord. What I saw was young people humbling themselves, seeking God's face, repenting, and praying. The Word of the Lord says that if we would do these things that He would heal our land.

As Christians it is our responsility to first come to God seeking cleansing for oursleves for our own sins, and then repenting for the sins of our nation. It is mercy that we need, and if we don't cry out for mercy, then we will suffer severe judgement from God. We are already seeing this to a degree, but it is nothing compared to what will be coming if the Church doesn't repent of her sins and intercede.

Indeed! Let us all work together to get the word out about these people as "the CALL" is one of the more powerful prayer ministries on the planet today.

The Call

Please don't look at what they say or what they do but test the spirit behind it.

One of the main spirits that operate through these people is a spirit of divination, witchcraft and controling spirits.

One of there head seers is Bob Jones go and have a look into him and some of his teachings.

Please pray and seek God and have a good think about it as it's okay to think for yourself.

Not everything that looks Godly is Godly.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve

So are you saying that it is the devil that has led thousands of people from all over the nation to come to Washington D.C. to pray, fast, and repent?

The devil has never led me to do any of these things. For if he did he would be working against himself.

L
Lotis Aug 23, 2008

Yes, once again I was there :) I assure you we did nothing more than pray and seek God for the returning of America to himself and the ending of abortion. Even if you told me 1000 times that that's not what they do at The Call, showed me 1000 pictures that appeard to show otherwist etc, I wouldn't believe you, because I was there :) We fasted, we prayed, we worshiped, Period. (I also drank lots of gatorade...)

M
murrcolr Aug 23, 2008

Please understand it is not what you say or do but it's all about the spirit behind what you say and do.

That is why you are told you will know them by there fruits.

Matt 7:15-23“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

So after reading this passage that you agree that you could fast, pray and Jesus could turn around and say depart from me.

Here is a message from Carter Colon called Beware of the Angry Watchmen this I believe is going to come through The Call.

Brother, please expalin to me what the scripture on false prophets has to do with "The Call"? Are you calling Lou Engel a false prophet?

This brother has shown nothing but humility, and right from the beginning of the meeting the Lordship of Jesus Christ was expressed. Now a false prophet will not exalt the Lord Jesus. He will do the opposite. He will lead people away from Jesus and exalt himself.

Why do you believe that "The Call" was done in the wrong spirit? My heart was moved as I witnessed the prayer and intercession going up before God.

L
Lotis Aug 23, 2008

Please tell me what false fruit you see from The Call. Once again, I was there, there was repentence, humility, brokeness over the sins of america. Everything about it pointed people towards a holy lifestyle and towards Jesus, you have NO grounds to accuse The Call itself as being of a false spirit.

It is of great concern to me that Mike Bickel has been promoting “contemplative” or “centering prayer” for some time. Now that Lou Engle has relocated to Kansas City and is on staff at IHOP KC he is using TheCall to recruit young people into the IHOP internship. We need to be aware of what is going on there and pray for the young people who are involved.

Let me start by defining “Contemplative Prayer”:

“Contemplative Prayer—A mystical prayer practice that leads one into the “silence” but in actuality leads away from God.

Definition of Contemplative Prayer: As it is expressed in a modern day movement is mystically (i.e. based on a technique or method) in which one empties the mind of thought through repetition, usually of a word or phrase or focus on the breath. In this case the silence would be an absence of thought, all thought.

The purpose of contemplative prayer is to enter an altered state of consciousness in order to find one’s true self, thus finding God. This true self relates to the belief that man is basically good. Proponents of contemplative prayer teach that all human beings have a divine center and that all, not just born again believers, should practice contemplative prayer

Another name for contemplative prayer is prayer soaking.

Bickle says the most inspiring light in all of Christianity came from the Roman Catholic mystics during the dark ages. Below are quotes from Bickle on the mystics: “mystics is a legitimate term… I don’t want to fight the war…so I’m just saying contemplative prayer, but I mean the mystics—even here at IHOP I say, lets just stay with contemplatives …I don’t have time to argue… so I call them the contemplatives…. I don’t want to go into the semantics, the debates…so, I’m calling it the contemplatives… I don’t have time to argue… but I need the mystics.”

“[They are] Some of the brightest lights in all of history… there has been the brightest lights in all history for men and women of abandonment in the dark ages… somewhere we have to say the dark ages were the luminaries in the grace of God…they were Catholic priests. A study of the lives of the mystics, the contemplatives, through history, and clearly the most inspiring, compelling examples of history, in my world, have come out of the Catholic dark ages. I can’t find anything like it in modern times, in America, in the protestant world.”

Make sure that no one deceives you my friend.

I know many brothers and sisters that attend IHOP that have more spirit in their big toe then most professing Christian's obtain in their entire lifetime.

You do not agree with IHOP, fine, neither do I, but to group an entire people into a catagory based on other people's assumptions is wrong.

May the Lord be glorified.

The Prophetic Call - Elijah: Prophet of Restoration by Art Katz

I was reading this teaching by Art Katz and decided it would be suitable for me to post on this thread.

The false prophets did not know that they were false. They actually expected that there was a God that would answer them. The vilest form of apostasy is when the people who are apostate do not even recognize or see themselves as apostate, and think that they are fully in the faith. That is the ultimate apostasy and we need to seriously ask whether we are already describing the condition to which the church has come, even in its best and most celebrated forms. We are not just talking about the mainline churches like the Episcopal and the Methodist, but are we are willing to consider those forms of the church that are the most charismatically celebrated in Christendom today? The apostasy is even worse in those places because it is not even recognized as apostasy, and so much so, that when one comes to confront and challenge, then that one is called a 'troubler of Israel' and is shown the back door.

The prophetic man has somehow in the deepest corridors of his heart a little tremor of discomfort, that though everyone is shouting 'Amen' and 'hallelujah' and having a great time, there is something in his own heart that cannot say 'Yea' and 'Amen'. It is not yet the authentic thing, though it purports to be and appears to be and uses all the right language appropriate to being it. The prophet is so attuned to God, who Himself alone is authenticity, that when he comes into the presence of something that appears to be right and is not, then it registers upon his own soul. How can such a man be found and formed in such a way? It is the crying need of the church in this hour because the deception is far more extensive than we know.

https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/articles/index.php?view=article&aid=406

I would fully agree with Arts here that the deception in the church is far more extensive than we know. Things of the occult and mystical traditions are accepted into the church and are classed as the Gospel.

Taking things that are not of God and saying are of God is wrong and the men that do these things are False and are not to be followed. Regardless of how Holy they make themselves appear. If you can't see that then you have fallen into deception as well.

If you want you can go to the IHOP site and it will give you a step by step guide on how to practice complmentive prayer. I won't post that link. All you'll end up getting if you practice that prayer is a spirit guide and this is where you know get all this Angels appearing to people. It's of the Devil and the sad thing is some would defend it.

IHOP is one of the vilest forms of apostasy.

So subtle yet so vile.

Wake Up

I refuse to argue over forms of prayer. If these men and what they do is not of God then may it die out and burn in judgement, if what they do is of God, then may our eyes be opened to his plan, and may it be blessed all the more. I do not see what you see, either because I am blind, or because you are wrong. If I am blind God open my eyes, if my brother is wrong Lord, show him the truth. Let the fruit speak for itself. So far the genuine prayers of repentence and mercy for America tip the scales towards a God pleasing movement in my opinion. Jesus is King, regardless.

To be fair there has been a great deal of discussion over all these things here. Take note of the earlier dates in the following links, there is something of a progression and I might say even branches that go right up to the most recent situation in Lakeland, Fl. Listed them somewhat sequentially, oldest to newest.

There are some that believe that they are operating in discernment, but it is not discernment at all. It is a witch hunt. Because there are people in the prohetic movement that are in error doesn't mean that everyone that has dealings with these men are false prophets. WE have to examine the lives and beliefs of each of these men in order to make a determination.
